about the subtitles people just like to fight is what i think it comes down to.
the question was directed at the poster who has not blessed us with his presence
but eh...
well i've been downloading this for 3 hours now and i am at 7%. its not my
machine because i am not having any problems with any other torrents. i show
almost 1800 peers and seeds so not sure what the problem is.
thanks for your answer 'god', you really show us who is an idiot and who is not.
if i ask for subtitles, it doesn't mean i can't understand what they say, even
if it's easier for me us accent than uk one.
i'm one of those who translate subtitles into his native language in order to make
more people enjoy the shows they love, 'cause not all tv shows are broadcasted
all over the world, and not everyone have skills to understand english 100% clear.
i'm glad u understand english. me too. and another 3 languages.
it takes more than a keyboard to be funny and ironic. take your time.
...mind you, i do wish they'd subtitle kenneth when he speaks 'gangsta'.
he has funny things to say, but it takes me a couple of rewinds to understand.
also jal's brothers' crew all needs translating.
i think the initial bitch at the first poster was because of us brits getting
annoyed at "standard" americans who need subtitles for other people who speak
english. the issue was further compounded by the fact that all the kids in skins
have neutral english accents and should be very easy to understand for those who
speak english....
.... so it's wrong to make the assumption that people are automatically american
and it must stop. :d
the whole thing about american's having difficult understanding us is quite an
interesting one. what is that about? anyone know? i'm fairly sure that most
brits rarely have trouble understanding 99% of america's localised words and
accents.
the issue was further compounded by the fact that all the kids
in skins have neutral english accents and should be very easy to understand
for those who speak english....
from a brit point of view i think the accents are pretty neutral
(despite the show being set in bristol which has a fairly distinct accent),
but i'd imagine the biggest problem non brits have is with the content of the
language.
an awful lot of it is idiomatic/slang.
about the only us show i've ever been even slightly challenged by is the wire -
for much the same reason. matching up baltimore street-speak with standard
english is quite a challenge at times 😉
