wondercon:
falling skies cast tease season 3 and the mega mechs!
learn what's ahead for the 2nd mass in season 3.

falling skies is heading into season 3, and there are plenty of new developments to keep fans guessing
and engaged. the last season ended with a couple of big cliffhangers: there are new aliens in town who
may or not be enemies and karen implanted hal mason with some sort of skitter bug.

stars drew roy, sarah carter, and seychelle gabriel as well as executive producer remi aubuchon
came to wondercon to discuss what's ahead now since the landscape has changed. a clip revealed the
skitters possess mega mechs; they've just been saving them for the serious attacks. the conventional,
older mechs aren't cutting it anymore. aubuchon said, "they've become so desperate they've brought
out the mega mechs which are not to be messed with."

you'll see the 2nd mass go up against them. aubuchon said what appears is happening is "the 2nd mass
is now tasked with rescuing as many of the harnessed kids as possible and they've literally been going
all over the country doing these rescue missions." the skitters are losing their patience.

maybe they'll have a new force to fight though with the new aliens in town. "it seems as if these aliens
want to help us, but we're never going to believe that completely. john pope certainly has a lot of
opinions about it," stated aubuchon. doug jones (hellboy) is playing the new alien, and he was the only
person aubuchon could think of who could take the suit and character and bring it to life. he says it will
be interesting to find out if they are friends or foes.

drew roy said we can expect a lot of changes for hal this season. "when i first found out about this
new hal was comic-con [san diego] last year, and remi gave me a rough outline of what was going to
happen. it's got more interesting and complex." he mentioned how tom mason is so busy with new
baby (who he let slip is a girl, by the way) and running charleston that he's letting hal take care of
himself. roy says it contributes to the character slipping off the deep end.

maggie is there to help keep him in check, and sarah carter says she definitely realizes hal is acting
weird. "maggie has a strong intuition and knows something is causing these crazy mood swings. she
knows something's off. the stakes are so high though that if she confronts hal - it's a dangerous
accusation to his life. she doesn't want him ostracized by the community. she wants to wait until shes
unbearably positive." she also mentioned maggie will not deal well with karen's return.

lourdes has to process hal's condition too. she becomes a full fledged doctor in the new season and
can't find anything physically wrong with hal. seychelle gabriel stated, "it's cool because i feel like the
past two seasons have been an apprenticeship with anne glass. lourdes is just trying to move forward
and taking it all and putting it into helping people." lourdes will be speaking up and trying to help the
spiked kids who don't necessarily have a voice.

aubuchon said they'll be introducing a new character - another spiked kid - so ben has someone who
knows what he's been through to talk to. "i think we've always talked about and in the background
featured other spiked kids, but we wanted to bring up to the foreground what it feels like for those kids
who have suddenly gotten super strength and are hearing alien voices." he pointed out this new
character had the same experience as ben but has a slightly different attitude. aubuchon cautioned
these kids are burning bright but very quickly. it might not be good.

in case you are wondering about john pope, aubuchon said fans of the character will be pleased. "as
you can imagine, john pope is not happy about any new alien at all and not happy tom mason is
president of charleston." he apparently has a bar and finds himself getting a little too comfortable. it
makes him mad at himself and causes conflict.

aubuchon also revealed a few more things in response to audience questions: humans will be using
more alien technology in the coming season but will not be piloting mechs, there won't be anything
about other planets this season, and you will learn more about the history of the skitters. the audience
will learn only what the 2nd mass learns when they learn it.

tune into the two hour season 3 premiere is on sunday, june 9, 2013, on tnt.

i always find it disorienting when shows jump so far ahead between seasons, and this show seems to do it
as a matter of course. the baby is born already? tom mason is president of charleston now? when did
that happen? too many things are happening off-camera for my taste.

i'm excited, short seasons, but it's good scifi, damn sight better that the v re-boot was.

seriously?
i think the science fiction writing is pretty meh on fallen skies by comparison, it leans too heavily on plot
cliches and deus ex mechina style 'comfortable coincidence'. also the characters are very arch-typical and
uninteresting so it is hard to relate to them.

i never said 'great' scifi, but with so many scifi shows getting the axe, it's still good to see it come back for a third season,
but i do like it, and still think it's better than a few other offerings around.

seriously, this shows awesome but the v reboot was pretty good too, too many
sci-fi shows gets cancelled these days for crap cop/law shows.

i really think this show is getting ahead of itself and jumping events forward too quickly. the show will
never find a rhythm if they never allow it to; tom mason being president is the kind of plot development i'd
expect to see in a much later season than just the third... that's like show endgame territory. he's already
had a child with his main love interest, so we're already past the middle of the line for that story's
progression, there can't be too much left to tell there. they're going to run out of steam well before a
show's usual natural lifespan if they keep this up, i think.

you could argue a lot of shows go nowhere, in many ways i like that fs always seems to have something happening, you
never feel like it's stalled, some shows spend years going nowhere, then rush to a major plot point, often that disappoints.

10 episodes a season, they don't have time for nothing to happen, good writers should be able to keep a show moving
along with plenty happening, i'm actually tired of shows where the bulk of a season feels like a time filler till the next
interesting plot point.

well i love fs
i am happy today is gonna be back.

its a godo show but the logic hoops are gigantic. were already on a point where nothing the writers
could do could explain all those hoops. which i find a shame because there wasnt a reason for that.
ikt seems sometimes writers just wanna go over the top every episode so they write some crap they
think will bring exitement
and then fall back and 3 steps becasue they ealized if we proceed this way its gonna go nowhere but
insane.

and this is a point i still dont get. in almost every scifi show they write themself into nonsense.
by trying to make every episode more supirorer as the other but not my storyline/twist whatever but
by inventing technologies, enemys stuff like that until they reach a point very fast where all the
hole story get pointless.

like stargate where they begun small and endup with "the entprise" including beaming and then invent
some misterious coincidents and damagaes so they cant use it anymore because turns out (oh surprise)
the hole episode would take only 20 seconds if they could use their tech.

sadly similar to fs, like the brainbug thing, the artifical bio wepons and so on - really why they
hunt by bipods if they could get em so easy.

or why is an alien army so easily defeated by blokcing some radiosignals - adn then oh the hole army
can readjust their hole chain of command and communications within notime so this donot work
anymore. they spent ages a lot of episodes to introduce the radio blocking thing just to use it for
one episode (my guess is this should have been the solution to win the war in case season1 will be
the last - buts renewed so they had to think again lol)

another big point is - they destroyed that tiny cannon which wasnt even operational - nwo the other
amry apears - obiviously because of the destruction of that cannon.

so heres the point why they had to wait we destroy it? looks like they are capable enough todo that
on their own.
secpially with only 5 or 10 soldiers in there (yea they wanted to make a mass fighting scene with
hundreds of scitters but instead they made it with 5 - so it looks like yea wtf is that crap - i
could go alone in there with my personal amory (no joke) agianst this little resistance)

so better turn brain off during the show lol, but still i like it, its still one of the best scifi
on air atm
serisously nothing much left here.
well iam lookign forward how they gonna explain all that crap and where the story gonna lead us...

but its true the characters and actors are mostly crap, unrelateable. i personally dont give a shit
about any of em.
