"defiance" -- the series is set in the near future (2046), where aliens known collectively as votans
have come to earth seeking a new home after their solar system was destroyed. however, when they
reached earth they discovered that despite a prolonged negotiation with the government on earth they
were not welcome. rather than turn away, they began a war with the humans as they are determined
to make earth their new home. during the war, the votans drop terraformers on the planet and
transform the surface of the planet; scorching the earth, opening chasms in the ground and covering
the surface of the planet in dust and debris. after decades of war, a ceasefire is declared when both
side realise that they must focus on survival on this new almost alien planet. the series largely
revolves around the character of joshua nolan. joshua was only ten years old when the votans arrived
and he served in the military during the war. with the war now over, he returns to his hometown of st
louis to find that its is no longer the city he left; it is little more than a refugee camp. deciding that his
services are needed, joshua takes up a position as the chief lawkeeper in defiance, so he can protect
the town from dangerous clashes between humans and aliens, military scavengers and others
dangerous visitors who occasionally enter the town.

i want to watch the intro trailers/etc for the series...but everywhere i look its resitcted unlessu re from
australia lol

i'm in the us and they played fine for me....after i disabled my ad blocking.

really hope this won't suck, but has a story to tell with some interesting characters and some
good acting. really long for a good sci-fi without an overflow of cheesy dialog and sketchy one-
liners.

this looks good! then again i thought that about revolution when i watched the trailer for that and
revolution is terrible!

you might be on to something i'm afraid :/

the premise sounds semi-retarded: if you want to colonize a planet you don't destroy it by reverse-
terraforming it.
if they wanted a dead habitat with semi-destroyed atmosphere they could have went to mars.

they weren't "reverse-terraforming" they were making it less habitable for us and better for them.
probably due to different food requirements and they were at war with us.

it makes sense! just watch the first few episodes.

the game is actually good. been alpha and beta testing it for over 2 months now.
handles large mobs of players easily (think the most they have had in a battle i've been in was 100
or so players in a single area with no noticeable slowdown).

the tie-in missions are not bad. (i.e. something mentioned in the show happens in the game like
searching for kidnapped farmers etc... etc...) but they have ben saying the 2nd season (if it gets
that far!) will have better intergeneration with possible players in-game names becoming on screen
characters and things of that nature. they are attempting something like that for the finale of
season 1 (possible competition to get your character on screen)

have been beta testing the game as well, and really find it lacking in a lot of aspects i'm afraid :/

really want this concept to succeed, and am longing for a decent sci-fi, as i wrote earlier, but
really can't say i have high hopes when it comes to trion after their more or less failed
investment in end of nations, and even more so due to the neglect they showed their own game,
rift, since mid-december where it has gone nothing but downhill unfortunately :/

i'll wait until s1 is over and s2 announced before *maybe* watching it.
why?
this is shit-fy original content - even if the show isn't super bad (which i seriously doubt) it'll
just get shitcanned at s1 cliffhanger like most of the shows today.

i'm skeptical about this one. old west meets scifi, is not really that interesting to me since i'm
not a fan of the western like settings. sounds like an invitation to one-liner driven dialog an a
non-serialized story.

ill give it a shot but i'm not expecting to like it even if
it makes it more than one season.

is it just me or do they keep pushing the show back a few days every couple of days?

as far as i can tell, since january 07, 2013, the schedule has not changed...
