1x01 -- apr 03, 2013 -- the aquarium

"rogue" tells the story of grace travis (thandie newton), an undercover detective tormented by the
possibility that she caused her son's death. in her quest for truth, grace doubles as an agent for a
powerful crime boss jimmy laszlo (marton csokas) who she believes will lead her to her son's killer. as
grace struggles to become the wife and mother her family now needs, her life is further complicated by
her forbidden relationship with jimmy. in order to stay alive, grace needs to help jimmy find the traitor
in his midst, while knowing he may have played a part in her tragedy.

so the new formula for shows is emerging....
death of someone close
+ woman under cover, looking for responsible party
+ balancing under cover life with home life
= deception
= red widow
= rogue
= {next copy cat}

yeah kind of boring. but it is a very safe concept.

technically continuum also answers that criteria but the notable difference is that it has an actually
interesting science fiction story and the woman is not working for a crime boss.

i give it 6 eps before hammertime.

its not even aired and i think its a boring typical repeated plot its either a father death, mother,
son, husband i mean cmon!.

am sure it has some twist or not but i will have to wait and see.

i disagree. there's no 'home life' element. she's got no family or friends in the present. if we get
rid of that requirement then we can add that godawful ashley judd show to the list too. maybe
revenge too if you make it looking for justice instead of discovering who's responsible.

btw- has anyone seen the original version of red widow (penoza)? i'm assuming it was good and the
u.s. version screwed it up, but i haven't seen it.

i'm going to watch at least the first 3 eps, but mostly bc i have a crush on thandie newton 🙂
i've done the same with v (baccarin), single ladies (dash), the l.a. complex (staite) & running
wilde (russell). the americans and homeland redeemed baccarin & russel, but i don't think i'll ever
give dash the benefit of the doubt again.
