sky one's action adventure romp sinbad has been axed after just one series, the channel has
confirmed.

the show, which starred newcomer elliott knight as the seafaring adventurer, made its small screen
debut last summer and has since been sold to a number of countries including the us. however sky
said in a statement that it would not be returning, adding that the story was now at an end. 'as a broad,
family entertainment channel, sinbad was the perfect drama to showcase sky one's ambitions for long-
running, blockbuster series,' the statement explained. 'we were thrilled with the cast and production
team, however we feel that sinbad's story has now been told.' the broadcaster added that they
were 'in development on a number of exciting new projects' and would announce details of these in due
course.

sinbad saw knight's title character flee his home town of basra after unwittingly causing the death of
his brother and falling under a curse as a result. the 12-part series followed his adventures aboard the
providence, a ship with a colourful crew of characters - as he attempted to shake off the curse.

its supporting cast included lost star naveen andrews, harry potter stars timothy spall and evanna
lynch, oscar nominee sophie okonedo and gavin and stacey's matthew horne.

i'm surprised it lasted that long - thought the first ep was pretty bad but even gave it a second,
but that was worse.

the sorceress was ridiculous!

by the looks of the main character alone, i would have guessed this to be a persian spartacus. not really
something people would want to watch...

not something people would want to watch? spartacus, in its last season, is a massive hit on tv.
did you even watch the show? it wasnt that bad, a persian spartacus? do you even know what sinbad
is about? or better yet.. have you ever watched any sinbad movies? its more like a crapper version of
pirates of the caribbean than spartacus.. lol

the acting wasnt the best but the show wasnt too bad.. i woulda thought itd atleast
get a season 2 to finish off the story but clearly sky one has joined a long list of
t.v. channels that will cancel a show even before they give a show a chance of
becoming something, just like abc.. notorious for cancelling shows.

spartacus is mediocre at best. the only reason it's doing so well is because it allows people who
don't like to think of themselves as people who watch porn to watch porn, and all the others are
watching cos it's fairly savage with the violence, regardless of how fake it looks. the acting is
terrible, the script is terrible, the camera work and some of the sets are laughable. the only thing
that's kept me watching is the mildly entertaining plots. and the sex. and the violence.

as for sinbad, i'm amazed the title of this story includes the words "just one season". fair play to
sky for sticking with it for the full 12 eps, too often we see us networks scrap a new show after
only 2 or 3 episodes. it was pretty awful too though. more terry pratchett stuff please sky.

sinbad has also been sold to networks around the world from bbc worldwide. in france, premium pay
channel canal+ pre-bought the rights to air the series in february 2012. bell media, a canadian
broadcaster, bought sinbad and showed it on their space channel. nine network also bought the rights
to air the series in australia. however, the bbc later took back the rights from nine and sold it to the
australian broadcasting corporation instead, premiering on 8 september 2012. syfy has picked up

i don't see it on the syfy schecule yet...so maybe it will, maybe it wont, air in the us.

yup, an adaptation of unseen academicals is to be broadcast this year (at easter i hope), and a
television series called the watch is under development as well, with rhianna pratchett as one of
the co-writers.

as for sinbad, well, it wasn't a good show, but it was the only fantasy show i've seen on the air
for the past few years (except game of thrones, of course). there has been almost no fantasy (as
well as scifi) shows since the mid 2000's.

i didnt even know the show existed... maybe a bit more marketing would had saved it.

anyway does the show get a proper ending? i wanna watch it, but not if it ends with some stupid ass
cliffhanger.
