he wasn't eccentric at all, i've met him and he was basically a very nice man whose brain was about
2000 times more powerful than the average human, to others he may well have seemed eccentric but
that's simply because when higher intellect speaks the average person sees that as eccentricity.

i met him in the 1980's, and i think he was brilliantly, magnificently eccentric, he had a mind like a steel
trap and his mind was racing, his words could hardly keep up with the speed of his mind. he could grasp
grand complexities and explain them to an 8 year old child so that they could understand. i'm glad that i
took both my sons to see him, it is a meeting that none of us will forget.

i just didn't want others to think of him as mad which is what some people think when they hear the
e word describing others, glad you found him fantastic also, mine was a chance meeting as he had
left a function he was at, my mate clocked him first and called to him where he came over and had 5
minutes of how are you chaps etc, we didn't speak about astronomy but you could just tell the
spectrum of intelligence about him.
