its a bit like nerd and geek, a nerd is socially unpopular while appearing to be intelligent, a geek is
socially awkward and actually is intelligent.
in this case as the old adage goes:
a trekker goes to a star trek convention to meet patrick stewart
a trekkie goes to a star trek convention to meet jean luc picard
essentially the trekker knows its just a show while the trekkie believes or acts like he believes the show
is real.

whatever the old adage may be, i'm with ric on this one ,i like star trek & would consider myself a
trekkie even though i suffer from no delusions about the reality of the show(s). don't know
where this trekker thing came from,always thought that was someone who was a fan of long walks 🙂
of course i don't really qualify as i don't already own this, time to rectify that.
