RSS feed not getting all my shows

please be patient. i am new to rss feeds. i followed the tutorial, set up feeds
for all three feeds listed in utorrent, and filtered all the shows i have listed
in my shows section. the problem seems to be that while it automatically starts
downloading some of the shows on my list, it seems to miss some. ie: no problem
with the show "dirt", however it never started a download for "gilmore girls".
both are filtered in exactly the same way and "gilmore girls" should have
started before "dirt". i looked through all the forums and faq file before
posting, but can't seem to find an answer. any help would be greatly appreciated.

ok. first thing - the customised feeds from this site are disabled for the
time being. they were slaughtering the servers, and the guys have had to
disable them to protect the rest of the site's function, till they figure out
a less intensive way of doing it.

so - we are left with the bt-chat & tvrss feeds & there are differences
between them.

the bt-chat one is "semi filtered", because we are using specific `group` and
`category` ids in the url. in the example case it's group 3: eztv, category
9: tv shows.

the tvrss example is just a straight mirror of what's on this eztvefnet main
index page.

you'll note that on the index page here there's a column for group: eztv or
vtv.

the upshot of this is that vtv-only releases don't show up in the example bt-
chat feed. (gilmore girls yesterday is a case in point).

however - it should still have shown up on the tvrss version, since
it's just a non-filtered mirror of the index, and doesn't take any notice of
the group column.

so - i certainly see gilmore girls 7x15 under the tvrss feed in my utorrent
rss downloader releases tab. i've double checked just now by looking at the
raw rss feed in a browser, and the gilmore ep is still there - hasn't been
aged out of the list yet.

assuming there isn't a problem with your utorrent connecting to the tvrss feed
then this means it should be in your list too. this leaves us with the
logical conclusion that it must be a problem with the show filter in the
client.

we can check these assumptions ...

go to the utorrent rss downloader config window.
go to the releases tab.
from the dropdown select your tvrss entry.
gilmore girls 7x15 should be about 15th on the list (at time of writing).

if it's not there, or your episode sub-window is empty, then we have a problem
retrieving the feed.

if it is there, then we need to look at the show filter on the favourites tab.


let us know if it's a feed or filter issue, and we can get more specific from
there.

the feed from tvrss is good. gilmore girls is listed there. 24 is another show i
have listed on my shows and it is in that feed. i have all the episodes marked
"watched" except ep8 and ep10 and neither has been picked up by utorrent. i
filtered it the same way as all my shows. i don't have any abbreviations in the
not part, so i know that's not it. (bty, how do you put in one of those vertical
lines to separate abbs. in urls?) since the feed is listed in utorrent for tvrss
i should be getting it okay shouldn't i? perhaps there is a separate website for
tvrss where i need to go to set up something? fyi after i was sure gilmore girls
wasn't getting picked up by the feed i went ahead and downloaded it manually and
marked it as watched in my shows list, but i have been waiting to see if it will
ever pick up 24 so i haven't downloaded those episodes at all.

next time i post i will double space my paragraph when i finish a thought.

no problem. at least your post makes sense, unlike the normal ranty single
parapgraph posts one reads 😉

first thing then - i think you still may not have fully appreciated the
differences between the various feeds, and how they are created, and from what
data source.

the eztvefnet.org one from here is created `internally` from the database, and
looks at your my shows settings before outputting a filtered list.

the tvrss one is essentially `raw`. it looks at the eztvefnet.org main
webpage, like a web browser would, and makes a list of the links it finds,
from which it constructs it's own feed indipendently.
it completely bypasses the eztvefnet.org internal database and local feeds, so
nothing you do in my shows here will have an effect on it.

so then - you confirm that the episode does appear in the tvrss version on
your client. this is good. it means we only have to work out why your
utorrent filter isn't hitting it.

i went ahead and created a utorrent show filter for gilmore girls to see if i
could re-create your problem, but it worked first time :-/

(oh - and the | symbol ... it's the `pipe` character. on a uk keyboard
it's "shift \\". it will likely be different on other language layout
keyboards)

thank you for your help. everything is set up like it should be. i still am not
getting 24, but i will go back and manually download it.

the good news is it did pick up every show on my list that has posted since tues
night, so perhaps it has worked itself out. i will keep my fingers crossed.

bty, you were correct about the "|" symbol. it is the same on us keyboard. also,
now i understand about the tvrss feed. thanks for clearing that up.
