what

1 pass does a single "general purpose", usually constant bitrate, encode.
a 2nd pass allows you to then refine it - it goes through again and gives high-
motion etc scenes higher bandwidth to prevent detail being lost, and lowers
the bitrate on more static scenes that don't need it.

that's why the 2-pass method is the `scene standard`.

some notv cappers/encoders have a tendency to cut corners to save time and get
their release out first. this leads to quality control problems for a variety
of issues, hence they get nuked a lot.

watching analog tv is fine also but it is not as good as hdtv.
the scene has standards and notv is cranking out crap to win
because with a 1 pass encode you can start uploading while the show
is still airing since you do not need to wait for the ep to end
so you can get the whole eps stats. (via a merge)

maybe it\'s because most people prefer speed over quality
i\'m thinking twice now before downloading notv releases, can\'t keep wasting
bandwidth
