bryan (andrew rannells) and david (justin bartha) are a happy los angeles couple, with successful
respective careers. the only thing missing in their relationship is a baby. they meet goldie
(georgia king), a single midwestern mother and waitress, who has moved to l.a. with her
eight-year-old daughter shania (bebe wood). jane (ellen barkin), goldie's grandmother, follows her
family to the city against her grandaughter's wishes. goldie decides to become bryan and david's
surrogate, which includes her family.

that wasn't too bad. i can see it developing.

when i heard about this show, i thought it would be a modern family rip-off, but having watched it,
i'm really impressed. there's a lot of original heart to this comedy--and yes, it is hilarious.
this pilot episode felt a bit rushed, but the writing was still top-notch. i think this show is
going to be awesome.

also, one of the two main guys was the star of trey parker & matt stone's /the book of mormon/ on
broadway.

true. it's clearly not there yet, but it has potential to be great, or to be terrible. i loved the "grandma" and
the expanding families guy, but wasn't impressed with the rest of the cast. the gay couple and the
surrogate where a bit flavourless for such important characters. still, not the worst pilot of the last couple
of years. will keep an eye on it!

i agree. and there's a lot going on there that they can work with. i enjoyed it.
