Auto login?

how come eztv doesn't have an auto-login feature? if this has been talked about
before i'm sorry but the search forum doesn't work :/ great site anyways 🙂

i for one give my vote to seeing this feature!

well for the regular auto login thing its just cookies dont expire.
edit: once you clear cookies you wont be logged in anywayz.

the other option is to code the login so that it will support post or get data
for the username and password then you can just use a url and have that as your book
mark. though then any one could see your password in the url if they can see
your screen.

i was only kidding.
you know. we have already extended the cookie expire time to a limit where you
don't get logged out.
it is already working just fine. (except for a bug where you might swap username
with someone else).
anyway if you enter the "main" page. it is an index.html file which don't have
support for cookies. so you would appear as "logged out" on that page.
elsewhere, you should be logged in.

hmm there has to be a way to enable it.

couldn't you still have the page static but with the menu section dynamic? then
if there is no cookie stored the entire page is static like normal...

so it'd be a php file, it'd check for the cookie. if none it'll just include the
static html file and bam, done. if there is a cookie, it'll include a different
static page with links to the sections like "my shows". therefore, no database
connections, still static, still low server load.

i don't care if the front page doesn't say "logged in as blah", just want it to
have a link to "my shows", otherwise i have to click to another page, then to my
shows. i'm lazy like that. 😛

don't think you have to, its probably it sets the cookie/session information too
late so it shows you a form the second time. if you jut login once and it shows
you the form again, just click somewhere else and you should be right.

the issue is because of the high volume of users, the session storage point gets
flooded causing all the current bugs you see. at present i purge the session
keys after 1 day of creation. this seems to fix the incorrect user issue. a new
system has been worked on, but with my current workload and having to fix other
things, this has been put back a little.
