hi

can anyone help (or point me in the right direction!)

i'm trying to convert the hdtv xvid to a mpeg format so i can put them on to
dvd's

i've tried tmpegenc but keep getting an error saying that the file is not
supported or courupted (the avi's play fine!)

i know converting down to dvd is loosing quality but i've got a crud screen
and want to watch them on a half decent tv in a relaxing seat insted of
hunched over the comp 🙂

any help will be greatfully recived!!

"convertx to dvd" is a good program, converts quickly, also easy to use. works
fine on vista.

but tvfan is right, divx on your dvd player is the best plan.

thanx guys

i got nero to work (i had a dodgy avi that's why a few of the progs threw up
errors!) after i downloaded a good copy of an avi!

the divx player is a no-go as the cheepo ones in the uk are crud!

and the reason i want to convert to dvd is so that i don't have to lugg around
another piece of equipment if i want to watch something!

i'd rather take the time to make up a good dvd it's easier to transport :d

ok the best way to convert divx or xvid to dvd is with a program called
directxcopy made by a company called vso you can download it from torrentspy or
torrentz (if you dont know what i meen can message me and i'll tell you). with
this program you just import the files into the program and then tell it if you
want it to collage the information into a menu or not and it does the rest for
you. i make about 3 dvd's a week. it takes about 2 hours to convert 5 episodes
onto one dvd. you can loose some quality but it matters how many episodes you
want to put per dvd. if you want a faq or a step by step on how to use the
program just ask and i can help. like i said i do this every few days and this
is by far the easest. it also alows you to add subtitles. if you want to find
subs for eztv files just go to http://www.opensubtitles.org/en and you can not
only find subs for eztv but other places to. if you have any problems just msg me.

thanx

i second, err, third "convertx to dvd", i don't know a thing when it comes to
authoring or encoding dvd's, but that program does everything, and makes it
easy to burn to a dvd with nero. of course ever since i bought a divx player, i
hardly use it anymore, but whenever a friend without a pc wants to watch
something, that's what i use to let them borrow a video or so.
