the whole scene has switched to .mp4's personally i dont care the whole house is on htpc's, but it was
clear for a long time that .mkv was the way to go.
not the whole scene - but a large proportion of them have change to x264. others are staying with
xvid but they're in the minority and shows are bound to be missed.
eztv does not record the shows
eztv does not encode the show
eztv has no control over file formats or torrent file names
eztv does not communicate with "the scene" release groups
eztv is a convenient and easy to use site the speciazlizes in providing links to
popular tv show torrents
stop asking eztv to do this-or-that for you when you obviously can't even be
bothered to read the site faq/help page or the forum...where these issues have been
discussed and answered a thousand times. http://eztv.it/forum/
1996 -- dvd movies
2001 -- xvid
2003 -- h.264 (x264)
2006 -- blu-ray
2012 -- "the scene" adopts h.264 (x264)
xvid vs. h264, old tech vs. new tech.
.wav vs. mp3. old tech vs. new tech.
older tech usually last about 10 years.
stop bitching and whining about xvid vs. h.264 (x264) and avi vs. mp4 and mkv.
you can't put your vhs tape in a dvd player or your 8-track audio cartridge in a cassette player. nor
can you put your 12" vinyl alubm in your cd player. time and technology change...get used to it.
grow up and realize that the world does not stop advancing just for you. spend $50 on a stand-alone
network/wifi/usb player for your tv. or take your free torrents, your free time, and free apps to
convert files to whatever format you choose. fyi: $50 divided by 10 years = $5 per year, or 42 cents
per month. with a $100 stand-alone product you're still only spending 83 cents per month. that's less
than a cup of coffee or a can of red bull.
example:
$49.99 -- sony smpn100 network wifi media player
1080p, dlna wireless streaming, usb,
bd remote, hdmi (cable not included).

edpno=6659874&rsort=4&csid=itd&body=#reviewstart
eventually all scene releases, and most non-scene release, will be h.264/x264...until another new
tech comes along in ten years.
yea, btw, i am using a sony smp n100 and it can't stream x264.
thanks for the feedback.
bummer.
didn't know x264 would not stream to the n100.
i've since read that x264 works fine using the usb input with a thumb drive or hdd but does not stream
using the included software. i found a several third party server apps that support dnla and x264 ,
maybe one of them would work for you.
i have not bought a device yet...still shopping around and learning the ins and outs.
most of the time i just play the shows in my bedroom using vlc player on my pc with 25" monitor.
but if i want to play them on the livingroom tv i have to convert and burn to dvd. i'm using
convertxtodvd and most of the time it will convert and burn a 42 minute show in about 20 minutes.
kinda sucks. i'm on a strict low budget so i'm trying to research and learn all i can before buying a
device.
