this feature was extremely innovative, but the load on the db was very
noticeable lately and hence the need to drop it is completely understandable.

good idea and completely agree.

i've come to rely completely on "my shows" lately and am sad to see it go. =/

boy was i surprised when i found my utorrent trying to download 99 shows from my
now "unwatched" myshows list. that was scary. i did notice the strain it put
on the db though, so i understand. it's not too big of a deal to me, since
tvtad ignores old links once the first one is dl'ed...but when that first,
completely unfiltered rss feed came down...wow, that was scary.

this does not happen if you set your filters correctly and
check the smart ep.
filter option.

depends when you started the episode history.

i transferred all my old azureus shows over to utorrent about 6 weeks ago.
any show that hadn't aired in that time period, and anything utorrent couldn't
determine the episode number for got seen as new.

i ended up with 133 torrents started and no disk space.

luckily i was using the pc at the time, so tidied it up pretty quickly 😉

i get a feeling that the "db drain issue" is a coding/db setup problem that
could be resolved with better queries or a slightly altered db design, rather
than deletion of the feature.

make this site oss, and we will help fix it 🙂

crash369, you are correct. but in order to do that, we felt it was nessesary to
do this.

gotcha. i did not realize you guys planned to re-implement the feature. it
seemed like you were just taking it down forever.

no features for this site will be removed, if there's not a damn good reason for
it 🙂

just an idea, instead of storing what has been watched what about storing what
hasn't. i know that my "my shows" list is fairly big but my "not watch" list
would rarely be 6 or more for anything longer than 12 hours, with the majority
of time it sits at two or less
(i may be completely off, i haven't been using the site for long, so please
ignore me if i am)

but how do you sort out what you havent watched? without knowing what you have
watched? should you manually put what you havent watched in the list? =)

as a temporary stop-gap solution, you can try putting a date box on the my shows
page and let us choose to "see only shows posted after: [date]"

i think that might work for many people here, and the load on the db should be
very light

just brainstorming 🙂

edit: actually, even defining the good ol' "a:visited" style on my shows would
be helpful 🙂
