thank you, canada, for giving me something better to watch! 🙂 i love living in the future. now if
only all the other shows, especially ones from fox, would air in canada during football, baseball,
basketball, etc season! 😐
only plays on 1% of players? seems to work fine for me on both vlc and media player classic. both
of these take all of 5 minutes at most to download and install, and don't have codec issues.
x264 is the way of the future, whether its mp4 or mkv, and i for one enjoy having higher quality
videos at a smaller size.
yeah if you can't play x264 then there's something wrong with whatever you're using.
all my hardware plays x264 fine...
try www.xbmc.org if you need a media player that can play anything (as far as i can tell).
if you can't connect your current computer to you tv then get a www.raspberrypi.org for us$25,
and that can run xbmc. (it has composite out and hdmi).
i'm all for x264, it reduces file size while increasing quality, what's not to like?!
try playing mp4 on imac g4... all you get is sound and a still every 30 seconds or so. i can't
afford to replace the machine and i don't have a tv so i have no choice, i have to use xvid.
just checked torrentday and the snatch counts are 210 for hdtv.x264 and 1975 for hdtv.xvid
but @drknrg, it is not 480p (at least all the x264's i've downloaded recently aren't).
they're all 720x404 (wxh). 480p would be 853x480.
the normal avi's are 624x352, so the x264 are higher resolution.
i think the transition from avi to x264 should start more methodically. say with the beginning of a
new season for each series out there. you can't just start uploading a different file format for
half a season when you've already started out with an older format, unless of course you upload all
the previous episodes in the same format as well. i think that would be the best way to approach
things. anyways, that's my opinion...
x264 plays fine on 360 as well. i don't see what all the fuss is about. if your ancient media
player doesn't support it, tough luck. remember when we had to replace vhs with dvd, and now
blu-ray? move with the times people - upgrade.

sorry to say your problem might be in using a mac, try a computer that works
