i felt like this season would be the last from all that happened last season. we know house would hurt
anyone that came close to him, one way or the other -- so that part of the show was over. we know he
won't let a former underling be his boss for long ... just as long as it interests him.

so yea, it felt like the final season ... from the end of last season.

sorry to hear it, but i suppose it's time. hope they can still give the show the proper series ending that it
deserves.

the show ran on too long. this season actually started good, with house in prison, but sure enough,
they defaulted back to him being released and back to the hospital for the same old.

i honestly think that the end of last season would have been a perfect place to end it - the show has
dragged on for entirely too long as it is.
the house formula is so repetitive, it's even been parodied within the show itself. every time they do
something to mix it up, it goes back to "normal" within a few episodes. kutner's suicide? dealt within the
one episode, and mentioned once or twice in passing in the remaining season.
i still have a hard time distinguishing between 13 and adams, simply because their characters are so
similar, and neither has too much dimension. (and olivia wilde has only been present in one episode this
season, with no explanation i can recall.)

as far as i'm concerned, the show reached its irreversible decline last season, when they hired masters,
and continued its downward tailspin when lisa edelstein (cuddy) didn't renew her contract.

i will be a shame to see the series end, i myself have been a true fan for all 8 seasons.
but, like the before mentioned arguments, it has run it's course, there is very little besides a major
overhaul that could make the show fresh and as fantasicaly as it was in the beginning.
adn so i look foreward to the new projects that will inevetably come to pass and get hooked on a different
show that will, too, end at some point in the future.

and althoug everybody lies, i will miss dr. house and his respect for the puzzle that is life.

sad to see it go, but the timing is good. i'd be disappointed had they decided to drag it on for two more
seasons. it had a good run, sometimes more sometimes less enjoyable, they've done stuff i liked and stuff
i didn't like and all in all it has been a great show.
can't wait to see what will hugh do now.

they could get many more good episodes out of this show, in theory, with skill and luck, and at
considerable risk. the trouble is that this would require a shifting in the frame of the story and
establishing a new episode formula, without breaking with the fundamental qualities of the show and
the characters, and without alienating loyal fans. that's always possible to do, but never safe to
try. i think they've increasingly experimented with this for the last two seasons, but without
managing to find a path they would take a lasting gamble on.

at some point you must cash in your chips and leave the table. eight good seasons is a considerable
win, and the risks were growing. i think this was a well reasoned decision, and quite possibly the
right one. securing a well crafted ending is in itself valuable.

for once, i'm actually happy about the decision to cancel one of my favourite shows. what a strange
feeling...

it's a hoax, there's nothing about it on the fox website. why would they announce it on some other
website instead of the airers own website?!

looking back. i really liked the first 2 seasons, except the fact that he could run after getting shot in the
beginning of season 2. i thought that made no sense. but looking back, i think the show has been
declining since season 3. they just create this drama with dumb legal situations that there is no way
someone would get out of time and time again.

i also agree with everyone about the repetitive formula. i think that's why i'm starting to hate tv. it's
usually the same every episode and if it's not that it's the same formula every season. no real character
development, just some tweaks and changes to situations they're in. i really wish tv shows would get
away from sticking to the same formulas and develop stories that evolve and change.

nah, that's so not house, it also wont end with some epic flashback or some "house finally understands not
everyone lies" kind of thing, that's not the house we love

i see it ending with house doing something awesome and cool(and most likely stupid) at the hospital
reception, with everyone looking at him, he smiles to them and then the screen fades as he walks out of
the hospital

the real reason is they ran out of illnesses and scooby doo like ways to solve the cases. sad to see it
go, but thats how the cookie crumbles.

well ... we all see every year that most of the new tv shows that show promise/potential (through
writers with serious balls to try out new things) end on the major networks' collective chopping
block whereas procedurals (and yes - with the exception of very few episodes during the last 5
seasons - house md was exactly that) always get the go-ahead.

house has been mostly carried by hugh laurie who still does an excellent job but the concept is
simply worn out. too bad that grey's anatomy crap still seems to fly, though.

by the way - has anyone checked out hugh laurie's 2011 music album? there is some funny stuff on the
cd - he also is a gifted musician.

never fails... surface, kyle xy, no ordinary family... lots of shows killed off when they had
atleast another 2 years in them. house is one of them. i dont know why they bother making shows as
of late, seems everything is being killed off. especially the really good ones... ones with
creativity and things to branch off of. sure house last two episodes to me have kinda sucked but
thats very few in all of their current 8 years. if they discontinue house, like the others... i
refuse to purchase their collections which inevitably adds more $ to their pockets. if they cant
keep it on air, why should i pay to watch re-runs?

to the network i say: f*ck you.
its apparent to me... with cuddy leaving, the show has now died.

next thing you know.. bones, castle, kitchen nightmares will be cut because someone didnt think it
should continue or it wasnt interesting enough which is such bs. house was more creative in its
first 3 seasons than er was in its last 4 seasons. er shouldve died in season 9, and house should
continue into & beyond season 9
