The shutting down of torrent sites...

how is it that some sites can stay up and others are shut down?
is it just a matter of time before this site gets it up the ass too, and do the
creators of these sites take any measures to try and protect their website at all?

just a few questions, but up for discussion of course 🙂

besides government agencies going after a particular site, there are several
other reasons i can see for a shutdown.
-cost
-time consuming
-competition consumes all your .torrent (isohunt)

and less password sites close as well.
