i loved david tennant and christopher eccleston, but i cringe at matt smith. karen gillan made it
tolerable, but she'll be leaving after this season.
it's not matt smith's fault though. if you watch the sarah jane adventures (yes, it's a kid show),
but when matt smith appeared in that as the doctor, he was funny, fantastic and quirky. just as
you'd expect the doctor to be. so, it's all down to the writers and producers.
the blame has to go on steven moffat. he's turned the show into a more adult, thriller type series
than the goofy fun it used to be. sarah jane adventures was for the kids, torchwood was the adults
only show and doctor who was for everyone. moffat and his crew of writers have sucked all the fun
from the show.
the last 2 series and christmas specials have been so dull. the christmas specials are nothing short
of lazy rip offs of well known stories that have been modified slightly.
russel t davies left moffat so much to work with. the doctor's daughter hasn't been explored. all of
the previous special guests like captain jack, sarah jane, and other companions fail to make an
appearance. i liked the river song twist, but even that was predictable. the weeping angels episodes
were a waste of a great idea and even that was a bore (i still regard "blink" as steven moffat's
best episode).
with rumours of doctor who hitting the big screen, it'll more than likely be the end of it, much
like the failed revival of the eighth doctor (paul mcgann).
just for balance - graffin is certainly entitled to his/her point of view but i must state the exact
opposite.it was fun,had a storyline taking a bit from a well know concept (hence the title) but
going in a new direction, well acted (especially the children) and matt smith is brilliant (take it
from someone who has been watching dr who for 50+yrs).it was a xmas episode and,as such, had the
'magic' appeal.

you are aware, i hope, that doctor who is a fictional tv series. elisabeth sladen (sarah jane smith)
died on april 19th this year from cancer and neither davies nor moffat could work enough magic to
have her "make an appearance".
this xmas episode wasn't very good and the casting of two children who were supposed to be brother
and sister was just ridiculous, a ginger haired boy and his dark looking sister was a joke
yes, i'm aware that elisabeth sladen passed away this year, but since matt smith appeared in sarah
jane adventures, elisabeth could have appeared in series 5 or 6 of doctor who.
everyone's entitled to their opinion, but i loved doctor who the most during the rtd years. steven
moffat is more than capable of writing great episodes, but he has sucked a lot of the fun (and
campyness, if that's even a word) from the show.
i wasn't a huge fan of the old series, and i guess that's the direction that moffat is *attempting*
to take the show, but even there, he's made the show all too serious, and filled with unlikeable
characters. i mean, rory? let's face it, if it wasn't for karen gillan, then i probably would've
tuned out a long time ago.
moffat is a great writer. he's written a few great episodes for doctor who and i loved his series
"coupling", but his strengths are drama and suspense, not sci-fi.
matt smith wouldn't have been my choice as doctor who, but he's not a bad actor. he can only work
with the script he's given.
all that's changed is the production values have gone up (it is clearly a more visually beautiful
series with the way in which it is shot), but the scripts and the stories are so damn dull.
the best part of doctor who (for me) was seeing familiar faces (whether that be from torchwood or
sarah jane adventures, or companions from the past). i certainly cared more about and enjoyed
watching rose, mickey, martha, donna and others, than i do amy & rory.
by the way, for anyone having trouble with eztv stripping off all the trackers for udp trackers that
many isp's block. these two (out of a long list i tried) are carrying a good number of peers and seeds:
this xmas episode wasn't very good and the casting of two children who were supposed to be brother
and sister was just ridiculous, a ginger haired boy and his dark looking sister was a joke
yeah, especially when the 2 of them hadn't aged a day in the "3 years" that had gone by in the
beginning of the episode.
ive been rewatching doctor who from the start and the thing it misses most from the classic is a
serious story to tell, modern who is geeky comedy or sfx action thriller, it never tells a narrative story
anymore. theres no sense of danger because theres no cliffhangers, no time to build proper
charachters or develop a setting, its just jetting around the timestream having a short adventure.

ahaha, you think a ginger and a darker person can't be siblings? my family proves you wrong. my
mother is a pale, freckled, redhead. her sister has black hair and is so dark, she looks native
american in the
summertime. one of my cousins is a classic ginger, and her younger brother has dark brown hair and a
natural tan. i'm a redhead, and all of my siblings have black and dark brown hair. never doubt the
roll of the dice that genetics does. not all siblings having the same coloring.
