yes! they got this episode 100% right.
no inexplicable weirdness from jess
that makes you wonder if she was raised by wolves,
and each of the male characters had a distinct
conflict that helped to flesh them out.
ps: is it just me or did nick start out
as kind of a wuss, and then get
reshaped into the alpha of the group?

jess defers to the guys. (the bells was the first time that she really asserted herself.)
schmidt is turning into kind of a felix from the odd couple or a niles from frasier type of character.
so, that leaves winston and nick.
jess and schmidt both seem more concerned with his approval.
i'm not saying that nick is 'an alpha male',
i'm just saying that he is the de facto leader of the foursome,
which is weird because in the pilot
he couldn't even make a decision about whether or not to take in jess.
at that point, schmidt seemed more assertive.
