if you are downloading las vegas or other nbc offerings, beware!
be sure to use your peerguardian or other such software.
nbc is tagging p2p users and reporting them to isp providers for copyright
infringement, and providers are rquired to investigate with the users to cease
and desist. my provider has actually threatened termination if they receive
additional complaints on my connection account.

i only know this to be happening with regard to one episode of las vegas but
is probably widespread on all nbc offerrings. happened to me once before with
hbo and "rome" so decided i wouldn't download the current season of that...

amazed that nbc even has a leg to stand on... i get nbc at home, and this is
my "dvr" copy that i get. if i ever got a dmca notice i would promptly point
out that i have an antenna and i am able to watch the show legally?

hbo, i understand. cable network. nbc, free ota network.

they are more concerned that your eyeballs aren't being subjected to 20 mins
of advertising per broadcast hour, i'd imagine 🙂

loss of sponsors or pressure for lower ad pricing to compensate probably
scares them a lot more than a few potential dvd sales losses somewhere down
the line.

it may be a nominally `free ota` network, but in reality there ain't no such
thing as a free lunch.

does this affect international downloaders? i havn't heard of anyone outside the
us recieving one of these letters. anyone know the facts regarding international
copyright laws and if the networks are currently persuing international
bittorrent users?

if nbc or any of those stations want to provide me with a download service i
would be happy to leave the commercials in. i pay for cable but i can't always
watch the shows on the time given. also i like to watch the shows during
breaks at work or when i am working out. i personally don't need to keep the
downloads forever. if i like the show enough then i will buy the dvd set once
it comes out. they could even let the show expire after say a month. if they
could provide a service like vongo i would be happy to use it. but i don't
feel i should have to pay for something (again) which i am already paying for.

i know some stations provide their shows online but let's be honest.. those are
crap. half the time they time out or take forever to load. you also can't
stop or rewind and if you go full screen on those the quality is awful.

instead of seeing the download sites as an enemny they should find a way to
turn it to their advantage.

they do go after international downloaders, just more infrequently.
it's more time/cost/effort for them to do so, so easier to hit us downloaders
primarily.

they even threatened me once to for adding their torrents on this site.
i told them to go fuck themself, (not in those words).
havent heard anything from them since then, and that's about half a year ago.

i have received one of this letter this morning about studio 60, and i am living
in france with a french isp. it is now asking me to stop pirating! i am going to
use peerguardian, alhough i understand that it may not fully protect me against
being detected? i would happily have some ads or pay for the show, but here
there isn't any possibility to watch these shows, they don't even plan to
broadcast them here, how am i suppose to watch them??? why can't they spent
money on offering alternative solution rather than going after the people who
make things happen in their own way...

what is angering me the most is that i have bought so many show i have
discovered with bittorrent on dvd, and if it wasn't for my so called pirating, i
would not have discovered any of the good show i am now watching!!!

it does.
and it seems like nbc has become very offensive, and it looks like they are
hitting eztv users.

it all depends of the laws of your country.. here in canada it's not illegal to download anything via
bittorrent, so our isp's would just laught at nbc if they tried to get our ip's!
