jennidark: on the contrary, the man is at severe risk of remaining "24" until he drops dead ;-) i
guess that's why he has jumped on the chance to play a sensitive and caring father of an autistic
boy, living only for his child. it's a bit of a break with the psychopathic bauer.
this looks like a show with a high risk of turning into some pretty boring drama, using the
preternatural only as an excuse for not having any coherent story outside of trite, emotional
agonizing, occasionally following some absurd chain of butterfly effect(s), based on a completely
false understanding of chaos theory.
on the other hand, if it's done with exceptional skill, and a shockingly unexpected grasp of the
underlying science (as in: using it for something other than an excuse for incoherent storyline and
platform for some absurd "new age philosophy" ), it may escape that fate, and become a brilliant show.
i would hold my breath, only russian roulette with 5 live rounds seems less risky. even in a 5
chamber revolver. i trust a round to be a dud, before i trust tv producers to understand chaos theory...
now, cynicism out of the way: it'll be extremely cool if they manage to pull it off!
this looks gay. kring screwed up heroes, and terra nova looks like shit. so, these two 'powerhouses'
teaming up doesn't sound all that interesting. not even jack bauer can save them. and who cares if
he's archetyped? i'd rather see him in a role i like than garbage. they guys making money he
shouldn't care. just do a few 24 movies and stfu.
