the doctor looks and seems human.
he's handsome, witty, and could be mistaken for just another man in the street.
but the doctor is a time lord: a 900 year old alien with 2 hearts, part of a gifted civilization who
mastered time travel.
the doctor saves planets for a living - more of a hobby actually, and he's very, very good at it.
he's saved us from alien menaces and evil from before time began - but just who is he? http://thetvdb.com/?tab=seasonall&id=78804
i think you misunderstand me. first of all, i don't have a problem with the 720p being too
big in mb
(although over 2gb is getting pretty big - and my connection is fine), it is too "big" in "information".
i have 3ghz laptop, it's three years old, but the model is propably one year older than that; but thats
not the issue. it can do my math and physics fine, but graphics - nopes. because the graphics card is
very low in quality. it doesn't matter
as comparison, i can't play harry potter 3 - 3!; the game is able to run, but it lacks in jumps of five
second or something like that. i kid you not. and that game is getting pretty old.
and i know the problem isn't in the cable, as it also lacks (but less notible) when wathing on the laptop.
the s-video-cabel just makes it worse.
so maybe you should just believe someone when they say they can't run the 720p version without
substantial lacking, instead of saying it's not possible.
a 3ghz cpu should be able to decode 720p no problems. this has absolutely nothing at all to do with
your video card unless you're trying to use hardware-accelerated decoding though the gpu, which
you're not doing (if using vlc). if your getting sync issues on a 3ghz machine playing a 720p video then
your machine needs a re-format because it's riddled with so much junk the cpu barely has time to
process the video between running all the viruses you have on it.
what cable you use for external display has no effect on performance, output signal encoding (dac) is
something even a 10 year old 2d only graphics card can do without performance loss - has absolutely
nothing to do with how fast your gpu. it just sounds like you have a lot of crap/viruses/spyware on your
pc slowing things down as you really shouldn't be having any issues.
i repeat, 720p video has absolutely nothing at all to do with graphics performance or how fast/slow you
run 3d games, video playback via vlc is 100% cpu bound. in fact, if you're having issues with cpu
based video decoding chances are you probably can play hp3 once you clean all the shit off your
machine slowing it down.
he may also have the wrong driver for his video installed. if you use the microsoft default
driver for an accelerated video card, you can have the kind of problems he describes.
tell him to check if the video driver installed is from the same manufacturer as the video
card in his machine. if it's not ( meaning microshaft generic ) tell him to goto the homesite
of the manufacturer and download the latest drivers.
