is it just me or does this have a lot of signal interference or pixelation?
not sure if i'm using the right terms... the image gets kinda blocky-like.
i've seen similar effects watching a friend's directtv when there's bad
weather. is that maybe what happened when it was capped or am i just having an
issue with my pc and/or tv? i guess the main question is has anyone else
noticed the same thing? thanks!

yeah. especially during the opening credits, it'll get really blocky/pixelated
during the fast motion parts. i'd guess its partially the service provider, such
as comcast, cox, charter, etc. most of the service providers still use crappy
mpeg-2 compression, instead of switching over to mpeg-4, which is going to
affect it.

the pixelation is probably enhanced from further compression.

just started watching it but there is quite a bit of pixelation in the camera
movements and transitions but not to serious.

6-7 times of pixelation

as for the sound, 3-4 times the low end noise distortion made my speakers and
sub pop badly

as for the episode.. . . if u havent already, don't bother, it will bore you
to tears and if it wasn't for the memory of justice, turn me off smallville
forever

i thought it was a great episode, but that's just my opinion. 🙂

when i first tried this in wmp the picture was occasionally distorted every so
often and it was out of sync with the sound. but someone (credit to them if they
were from here!) recommended mplayer which i found on a google search and didn't
notice any problems with it after that.

just my two cents.

i think it is due to nbs using different filesizes than other groups like 689mb
or 693mb. if you view a ctu release encoded properly at 700mb you will see no
pixelation. it is purely the fault of the low bitrate used by nbs to get
filesizes lower than 695 mb to win the scene race. pixelation shown during the
credits would be unacceptable to broadcast.

macroblocks on an hr release should be an instant nuke.

still i appreciate the show.

is there really a "scene race" for filesize? that'd be pretty weak.

this episode, btw, was the 2nd worst smallville ever. what crap.
and that is one ugly dog of his. oh well. moving on.

thanks all for the feedback. glad to know it wasn't my vid card or anything.
this was the third hr download i tried while considering switching to those
permanently, and if that was indicative of the quality i may not have bothered
in the future! i suppose it'd be nice for some if they released a proper
version, but i doubt i'd re-watch that one just for better quality. wasn't
that great an ep. didn't hate it either, it's just a story that's been done
to death... and i might add buffy did it better 😉
