it's a great show and i will at least give liam a shot, but we'll see how he handles the spotlight under the
great shadow of andy whitfield.

i think the stills they show are a close match, but the one action shot looks way off...

the writers are clever though, they'll probably make season two far enough in the future that sparatcus
had some face altering issues or something... only time will tell, but my biggest fear is that he won't
sound the part...

by jupiters cock, i hope he at least sounds similar...

anyone have a clue as to the plot or timeline?
is this after the sand and blood? or after gods of the arena but before sand and blood?

so it seems that the first guy used to replace andy whitfield wasn't up to the job. now we get another new
guy to portray spartacus. guys, if you whiff on this one as well then you are down to one more strike.

haven't the b&g guys learned that you cannot replace the star of a show with another actor/character and
still expect it to be good. 10 things i hate about you was doomed when john ritter passed. spin city was
not worth watching when michael "j." fox bowed out. two and a half men will be shortly canceled after
ashton kutcher is brought in to replace a "crazy" charlie sheen. as they say in hollywood...bad publicity is
better than no publicity. and sheen's crazy antics garnered alot of free press for the show.

besides, i was much more fond of gannacus than spartacus or cruxis.

they should just focus on doctore. peter mensh is a great actor with a very commanding presence.

i'll never get fully used to this actor, but i will at least see how he performs before (if) i stop watching the
show.

for those curious, andy will not be returning, atleast not as spartacus anyway. we may see a cameo
from him when he has recovered.

i really do hope they write it into the story, i have a feeling they won't though...

sworph, how would they write it into the script? spartacus has an accident and gets plastic surgery
to his face? spartacus dies in the very beginning of the rebellion, and his less known kid brother
takes over? spartacus runs off, leaving the other slaves holding their dicks?

anyway, i think this is one show that may survive a change in the lead character. i watched it for
the female nudity and fight scenes. i imagine that female and gay viewers weren't overly invested in
the acting, either. in fact, none of the slaves were played very well. as an actor, whitfield was
nowhere close to being the one carrying the show. the best played characters were killed off at the
end of season 1, and, from a dramatic point of view, i'm far more concerned about how they will be
replaced, than about how whitfield's replacement will do. i'd imagine that the role of spartacus
will get more challenging in season 2, given lulls between battles and the need for hard decisions
on his behalf; in that case, getting a new actor may actually be a good thing.

unfortunately, i see that they still haven't hired someone who actually looks like a gladiator.
archeological evidence is very clear: the gladiators were not only muscular, but also had plenty of
body fat -- probably to provide extra force and momentum, as well as better tolerance for training
and injury. "well sculpted" bodies like the ones in this show, would have ended up seriously mangled
in an actual gladiator fight. this was a "sport" with only one weight class, and no one was
concerned about making the weigh in.

anyway, if they keep up the production quality, female nudity, and extreme violence, i'll keep
watching. in fact, the less i see by way of actual acting, the better...

the simple thing is, we won't know till the first episode comes out. as much as it's a shame andy
won't be back, due to very unfortunate circumstances... the other option is to can the show
entirely, i'll for one be there giving the next season and the new guy a shot. if they keep a fun
and interesting storyline filled with violence and many boobies i'm sure it'll be just as good as
the first season... m/>_<m/
