try looking for the newer "divx hd stand alone players" instead of the hdd pvr
unit which they decide to chuck a dvd burner on to.
i don't have one as my computer can output to the tv directly. the black on
350mb files starts to devide into squares of various ligther black (its not even
a lcd). when viewed on the tv. 700mb hrs don't do this.
shatterpulse is wrong even crt tvs can show the difference.

i think people are trying to tell you that most standalone dvd players
that handle xvid and divx have a maximum resolution they can play.
for instance, my philips dvp642 can't play anything that's wider than
720 pixels.

most hdtv releases are less than 720 pixels wide.
all hrhd releases are 960 pixels wide, because hrhd stands for half resolution
of high definition tv, and we know that real hdtv is 1920x1080i, or 1920 wide.

there's a lot to be said for the xbox mod where you use that to feed just
about any resolution to your tv and it works. google it.
