Alphas: First Full Trailer of the new Syfy series

so basically... its the xmen...

and if it's good it will get cancelled after 8 episodes...

heroes+x-men+misfits+crime procedural.

sure it looks like an x-men type show but it doesn't look half bad. guess i know now why they had to kill off vincent in
bones.

no offense but this looks shit.

another heroes type premise with fringe sensibilities and the syfy logo attached it. i don't mind
malik yoba but the rest of the cast looks crap.

gone are the days of real science fiction...xc

good thing there are still a few great sf books out there.

if they didnt keep making this stuff.... then we wouldnt have anything to moan about, so it's all good..
lets hope its terrible, then we'll get at least 2 series of it 🙂

they'll cancel it after the first series like everything else, (damn you syfy, sgu was just getting good!),
and they'll keep some other crap on.

so another show that will get cancelled mid 2nd season if not sooner, i wont hold my breath syfy.

besides the x-men concept have been done many times over in cartoons(and now its being done in
anime) and some in live-action so unless this brings something incredibly new to the table from the get go
i don't think it will last that long and therefor not worth watching because it will just end up where the 4400
and heroes ended, nowhere.

x-men the last stand wasn't that great, people only watched it cause its x-men, this on the other hand is
pure ripoff from how the description sounds

the 4400 was awesome! it even had a reasonable ending.. unless you got the books (which were fairly
disappointing, but gave closure) you could imagine it ending exactly where it did..

heroes was good up till the 3rd series, but remember how much hype that had around it at the time.. it
seemed like it would be going forever, and then boom! gone.... zero closure on that one.

series like this will keep being made, because they have a huge initial draw.also they generally build a
large fanbase who are willing to shell out on dvd's, merchandise etc.. if it's really bad it wont survive, but
if they keep making them.. eventually someone will get it right..

i couldnt even finish watching the trailer..i love sci fi, but this looks like another show made by guys in
suits who think they have a formula for what sci fi nerds like myself enjoy..if it makes it 3 seasons, ill start
to watch it.

sigh...same shit different day syfy... i am pretty sure they have cancelled very similar shows
before...

edit: i just saw the syfy logo and only just noticed the tag line: "imagine greater" ... maybe
they should do that?

i don't know, you say that but primeval that is really bad somehow survives for five seasons somehow and
with a fairly decent budget despite its corny screenplay and directing.
maybe sci-fi productions should move to the uk now because it looks like the majority of the american
public does not care for it and the syfy channel only care about the ratings so they won't recognize a good
show even if someone throws it in their face.

this show will not last. it's just not good. david strathairn made such an indelible impression on me
while portraying the villain in the bourne film that i have a hard time seeing him play a good guy.
aside from the female characters the rest of the cast (male) is so cliched. a guy who is super strong, a
guy who has perfect aim and a guy who controls electricity.

besides, the name of the show spells certain doom. a show's success depends largely on it's title.

would "these friends of mine" have ever lasted as long if it was not shortened to just "friends"?

if they want to save the show they need to change it to "alpha versus beta" because from the first
episode everyone is an alpha and it's hard to distinguish "who's who". just call the good guys "alphas"
and the bad guys "betas"....

while i do have fond memories of the former supermarket chain i think it's sounds alot better than
"alpha versus omega" or "alpha versus zeta"..

the benefactor "don" reminds me of daniel craig....and that's not a good thing.

i really love the female characters and the actresses who portray them. if the had more female
characters the show would stand a good chance of riding out it's first season.
