nice concept with the no dying thing, but i'm skeptical about what they actually did with it, the trailer
wasn't very convincing because it made it look like just another action-conspiracy-x-files drama which is a
disappointment considering their idea is to do a show about a world endangered by a population boom and
no death..

r.i.p torchwood, the british made you and the americans killed you. i'll miss you, jack, gwen, rhys
and all the ghosts of the former cast members, remember the memories you gave me and the brilliant
writing that happened before it got turned to shit with a retarded plotline, ridiculous overuse of
guns and boring as all hell american acting. torchwood should have been at least shopped to
canadians before the bloody americans. **** you starz, **** you.

we will very soon witness how the all-new, sexually-streamlined, homophobic american interpretation
of captain jack will turn out ...

personally, i do allow myself some skepticism ...

i really don't understand why everyone is so upset, without starz there would be no torchwood because if it isn't
obvious the fact that bbc refused to renew or cancel it after coe proves how much they've lost interest in it and should
no longer have a right to it. as long as jack and gwen are around who cares where torchwood is.

remember the way the show used to start with jack saying "fighting for the future on behalf of the human race"well now
they finally are.

and finally miracle day is a starz original series, sadly tw still belongs to bbc but md is a starz original
production

as far as i'm concerned, america has ruined both doctor who and now torchwood. the new doctor who
(with matt smith) has been americanised to the point i want to throw up every episode. and
torchwood, it seems will no longer have any connection to what torchwood really was. it's a new
american show with 2 guest stars from torchwood.

will america understand that captain jack could not die long before this series, that he lives for
so long he could very well end up older than the universe itself and ultimately becomes the face of
boe? will they understand that this is because of events in doctor who when he was resurrected with
the energy of the tardis' time vortex? will they delete his omnisexuality (no, not gay or bi, but
omnisexual), he'll sleep with anyone, any gender, any species (and has been pregnant once, but would
prefer not do do that again)?

and most of all will they understand what torchwood's origins are, that queen victoria set up
torchwood as an institute to fight aliens and the unknown because of the doctor, that he was a
target? and that after torchwood was destroyed, captain jack rebuilt it to be something very
different, that he did not believe in the founding principles of the original torchwood? do they
even know captain jack was a pseudonym he took from a real wwii pilot, that he was a member of the
time police, and a time traveller himself with the vortex manipulator he wears as a watch, that it
burned out and that he has been on earth waiting for the doctor, to find out what happened to him
and if he will ever die? the answer being that captain jack has become a fixed point in time, an
anomaly that is unnatural that even the tardis tried to run away from as far as it could.

there's so much back story because torchwood was russel t davies' original concept, and he had to
resurrect the doctor who series to give enough back story because it is a complex intertwined story.
it took 2 seasons of doctor who to bring the torchwood arc to fruition so they could commence with
torchwood as a series.

americans won't understand any of this, so you end up with an american show talking about something
they don't understand. even the americanised version of doctor who has broken the rules of its own
universe. a big no no. i see no hope of americans maintaining the story and rules of the doctor who
universe (yes, torchwood is still part of the doctor who universe) with an essentially american show
giving lip service to long time uk series torchwood and doctor who without paying respect to what
they represent.

america may have money, can provide lots of effects and other useless stuff (the uk was doing fine
as far as i'm concerned) and who cares if american series run longer. volume doesn't equal quality.

as far as i'm concerned, doctor who died with the departure of david tennant, and torchwood ended
when captain jack left earth because he considered himself to be too dangerous.

thanks for nothing america

quoted for the truth. you sir hit every point about why all this americanized bullshit has to
stop...there's a reason why i don't pay for cable and torrent things, because all the shit on tv
these days save a select few good shows makes me want to spew my breakfast. seriously, what the ****
have we done to deserve such pathetic excuses for tv series?
