i read it depends on how recent your firmware is if packed bitstream poses a
problem or not, i would wager yours might be an older player or a new player
with an older firmware version as i have an older player ( a few years old) that
packed bs plays ok on. however it is reported that this does pose a problem on
many other standalones. in any case, if you use your computer to watch it, it's
a non-issue.

i have yet to watch it, but i have hopes that it will be a good addition to my
sci-fi/fantasy viewing.

a little on the critical side of it, but it won't color my judgment since
i like to make up my own mind.

i was looking for the rating numbers for the show, but i can only pull up the
commercially supported networks (ie: nbc, fox... etc), here is the link for

ps: i didn't know if posting links to help with info was wrong... i'll have to
look that up, but hope its ok.

the books are very good imho. the premise is quite solid, and if done well
should be brilliant. think of a more serious/adult buffy and thats the books,
hopefully the series will follow suit.
