they kinda did ( and failed) already, it was back in s7 or s8 they were gunna finish up smallville,
and start metroplis
but alas, all they did was keep the cape hidden and move the story there instead, less cgi involved
i guess

hey, at least callum blue was in this episode, i was hoping zod would make another
appearance in season 10! but im sad to say this season has been a mediocre one at best so far, i
always get my hopes up for final seasons and then get badly dissapointed! just like lost....
thing is, it's clearly a wrap-up season; it's mostly about turning the smallville-ck into the
superman-ck, and preparing for "the blur" to become "superman".
parts of it may appear a bit rushed (like you can't really establish the new ck persona in just a
few days or weeks or whatever the timeline between episodes is), but well... this is a superhero tv
show. lots of things won't work in reality :-)
on the other hand, the somewhat abstract "darkness" instead of an actual "monster of the season" has
probably been chosen to give clark the "final kick", to show him (and possibly the world, i don't
know what the last episode will look like) that he can be that shining hero that his friends and the
league guys from the future see in him.
which, in my opinion, is a much better way to conclude the series, as opposed to just giving him a
cape and letting him show his face to the public. smallville has always been about ck developing
into what we "know" as "superman". the whole 10th season is pretty much about taking that last and
big step.
[ btw, something that i would have liked to see as a part of this whole wrapping-up business is a
character that has never been a main or recurring character, but appears in every(?) seasons opening
sequence: that little kid that clark saves from the meteors. they should have given him some
reappearance; nothing major, but hey --- being in the opening sequence for 10 seasons, not a bad
accomplishment ]
