so many canceled shows in last couple of years. industry needs to realize that rules have changed. it's becoming
ridiculous /emo rant/ i had to give up on watching at least 10 shows lately /emo rant/.
oh don't worry too much, because i am sure a nice new reality show will fill its place...where all
they have done is slightly change the formatting of another show, from another network, from another country, because it is easier to do that than think. apparently, that is what we need,
another reality freaking show...oh for fks sake! 😠
maybe some day the tv exec will realize taking a break in the middle of a season when a show is still establishing itself is
not a good idea. also you might figure theyd give bit of information on the show as in how long its going to be gone or
when its coming back. people lose interest in a show they were still on the fence about, mainly because first season is
establishing characters and plot/subplots. whne you take a break and things arent established yet people really wont care
and will go back to their cookie-cutter legal dramas and reality shows.
well other than the whole long break thing being a horrible idea for anything that is serialized and
in its first season i agree with people above that the ballgame has changed. there are so many
different ways to get at media, and so many different media producers producing various things of
various quality that the days where you can have some kind of dominant or impressive share by
traditional standards is over. i mean reality tv and a few choice comedies/dramas are still getting
those shares but i doubt they will indefinitely. especially as the younger generations that have
grown up with "choice" age into the key demographics. youre either going to have to produce a
multitude of programming that appeals to various niche's or youre not going to be able to market to
anyone...
you just can't have months-long breaks like that for shows that tell big stories over the course of
an entire season. two or three weeks, sure... three months? fair chance i won't watch again.
especially not when the show hasn't been around long enough for me to remember what the story is or
who the characters are without needing a refresher. same shit happened with v too.
it probably doesn't help matters any for areas like mine where the local nbc jacked the prices and dish
network has now dropped them from our package (without giving us any money back for paying for it
either)
i'm kind of surprised it made it this far, i would have cancelled it there and then at the pilot because it was
pretty bad.
makes me wonder where do networks get off running with shows like that. sure lost pulled it off but the
ev3nt is not nearly as good, in fact i thought it was so bad i stopped watching in the middle which is
something i rarely do. ( i mean i have high tolerance for nonesense if i can watch primeval right?)
pretty sure if they didn't take like a 3-4 month break in the middle of the season, ratings would be
different. whoever thought of that idea is an idiot.
i have to agree with the general consensus here, taking a 4 month break in the middle of a series that is in the process of
establishing itself is always a ridiculous idea, but using statistics of the first episode after such break as a reason to drop it
is pure stupidity!
frankly, i believe the studios/channels use such breaks to create a reason to end shows. to what purpose, i can only
speculate.
i enjoy the story but the direction sucks and except for a few people..there is a serious lack in talent,
actor wise..i was actually laughing at how bad some of the acting was..the blonde..awful!! ritter is pretty
good.blair is pretty good and a couple of others. the soldier in the prison during the break out (black guy
who was with the defense secretary)when they were being integrated was ridiculous ..watch it again and
look at his facial expressions..there are actors in performances of grease in middle schools across the
country that can act better than that!! i watch the show but dont care to much that its over
