yay.....a show about the "code" of the most corrupt police department in the most
corrupt city in
the us...
at least it's actually filmed here in our "most corrupt city in the us..." it's nothing groundbreaking for sure,
but those of us who live in chicago may enjoy seeing our city on film, corrupt or not. yay!
its not too bad. although i get the impression they are going to try and cover the same ground as
the wire with more action and less intellectualism. that said, it seems like it will be good as far
as a standard cop drama goes - i enjoyed the first ep.
as someone who has dealt with the chicago machine, i can say that i look forward to a series willing
to challenge the city's vote early vote often (even if your're dead) corruption. i see a lot of
potential from this premier.
i thought it was a great start to what looks like a promising series. it seems to me to have a little more too
it than the run of the mill cop procedurals out there right now. at least it's acknowledging the darker side of
city life rather than simply glamourising or propagandising the police force. the kid out of friday night lights
looks a promising character, as does the main cop whose name i won't even attempt to type. all in all it
was a fair bit grittier than most out there, and i thought it was done very well. sure, it'll get a lot of haters
because it might possibly be attempting to be like the wire (and wtf is wrong with that exactly) even if it
doesn't quite succeed, at least it's trying to be better. i just hope it get's a steady slot, and a full run. i'm
sick of getting into series, only to see them shifted from slot to slot and eventually binned.
even more kitschy than blue bloods, which is barely tolerable. i won't be giving this anymore of my
time, nor do i see it lasting. there are much better cop dramas out there.
