it seems for some reason people do not want quality television anymore. all the good shows i enjoy
or like have either already been canceled or may be, such as lights out. many of the shows that
don't get canceled are just garbage.
i mean, really, who needs a boxing series? who actually watches boxing? who exactly is the
subject's demographic? the 18-49 group? i don't think so. i for one would be hardpressed to watch
anything about boxing and i'm put off by the promos of smashed faces and hurling sweat.
who would want to watch a show about boxing ?? i think a better question is who would watch a show
about a bunch of (forgettable)kids doing karaoke on a poorly scripted, acted and directed show (glee).
gotta agree, there are so many other shows out there that are so poorly scripted, poorly acted and
for some reason go on and on and on!
having watched the first episode of this show, i found it truly engaging, its not just about boxing
in my book and when you have good writing, great acting and interesting sub plots, then its worth
watching. that's what this show is about.
i think you misread my post. a closer reading of it would show that i made no reference to the
show's quality, only its subject matter. nor was it my intent to attempt to banish all programs of
quality. rather i was trying to opine why i thought the show faired poorly in the ratings.
please watch the show if you like it. let everyone who likes boxing, if only in the background, do
the same. but only five people appear to have done.
i really enjoyed the pilot of this show!! the boxing is not a dealbreaker for whether you enjoy this show or
not, same as friday night lights is a great drama and you don't have to be a football nut!
it's interesting to see a former champion struggle with his former fame and the choices he has to make.
alot of interesting situations have arisen already in the first ep and i am actually looking forward to seeing
what happens next to all these characters and relationships.
i hope it finds it's audience and thankfully on fx these shows are all at least given a fair chance.
well i say i like the show and there no wrong about boxing it about some one and his family trying
to make it
he is hitting bottom so has to get up to the top the concept is how life has its ups downs me and my
wife wach
the show it some dont like the show then dont watch it i like it so i watch it thats just how i fill
but give it a chance and u see
don't plan to watch this. fx cancelled my favourite show, terriers, so i don't trust
them to not screw up
another one.
i liked terriers too..sometimes if a show really appeals to me i wont watch it until after a season or 2
passes because im so sick of digging a show only to have it canceled on me mid season or without any
resolution to the plot..terriers at least had kind of an ending
i'm thinking that with both this show and 'terriers', it's a case of too little promotion, or promotion that
doesn't have the right message or that gets lost amongst all the other pr for new and returning shows.
there have been a lot of premiere dates for returning and mid-season shows this month, and i can see
how a little cable show could get lost in the shuffle. many times when cable shows have done well,
they've been heavily promoted and premiered when there weren't a lot of other choices (spring, summer,
for ex.).
according to tvbythenumbers [dot] com, the numbers for 'lights out' are very similar to those for
'terriers' and folks are speculating that the show will be cancelled. i think maybe they need to come up
with another model for what constitutes 'success' for cable series, personally.
not watching friday night lights is about as much sport-related show action as i can handle. i like
quality tv just fine; simply not the way many sport-related shows get on.
