a series about fate and the people it brings together, starring academy award winner kathy bates
(harriet (bates), matthew (ben chaplin) and malcolm (aml ameen) couldn't be any more different.
harriet is a curmudgeonly ex-patent lawyer who, having just been fired from her cushy job, is
completely disillusioned with her success and looking for a fresh start. her world unexpectedly collides
with malcolm's -- a young man trying to figure out life. when he finds out harriet is a lawyer, he begs
her to represent him in an upcoming criminal case. matthew, a dreamer at heart and also recently fired
from his job as a high school teacher, is introduced to harriet through malcolm, a previous student of
his. when these three cross paths, they realize they're all looking for a fresh start. now, the most
unlikely of people are starting a law practice in the most unlikely of places -- a rundown shoe store.
sometimes you need to be slightly less superficial when determining how you are feeling about
something.......has there and will there always be lots and lots of shows centered on lawyers,
doctors, police, workplaces? yes........these subjects will constantly be coming up as long as we
have visual story telling. sometimes you need to find more to sink into........perhaps the show is
another lawyer show.....maybe it will have compelling, interesting characters......perhaps this show
will be visually stunning.....with incredible cinematography...... wait a few episodes before you
pigeonhole and cast aside.....when people start talking in speculation and hear-say they end up
looking like idiots......you think you sound smart......but you're just looking dumb.
so some1 just states the fact that producers are obssesed with making lawyer shows and u what
explode on him o_o, but i agree u shudnt judge a book by its cover
no guys not just another law show, this is brilliant stuff, witty, intelligent and cracking humour. i
loved it, the question is will they be able to keep up the good writing of this show. as previous poster
said "best new show of the season". watch it!
i wasn't expecting much from this but i really enjoyed it, i like this show and the defenders. maybe they should keep these
running and put a ban on making any new lawyer shows for a while!
just saw it. it wasn't a bad first epsiode! it does have that boston legal feel to it without the
catchy musical rifts and camera takes. and bl had more of an ensemble cast. with just 3 people in hl,
it'll be harder to pull off.
the show's title should be harriet's law, rather than harry's law
in keeping with the show's character.
and i wish they wouldn't dress kathy bates as a bag woman on the street.
maybe that's why people keep bumping into her!
