nope, the writers fully embraced the notion that all an indigenous people need is a little help from
white people.....lol
edit: oh, and fyi, if you're into grey's and private practice, you can probably just stomach this
show....
horny, young, pretty doctors poking each-other at inappropriate times in a jungle setting....oh, and
there will probably be some hospital-ly type stuff thrown in there, but it will probably be way over
the top and technically inaccurate.
in fairness to the show, the title phrase is spoken sarcastically just a few minutes in, by one of the
more-experienced doctors upon meeting one of the new arrivals, who can't even pronounce her
name properly. "oh, goodie, another american. saved by the great white hope!" so yeah, i think
someone was aware of the irony there.
thanks, good to know... i wasn't enthused enough by the show's general description so as to actually
watch it and see for myself. but seeing the title got me thinking about the last time it was widely heard, in
which it was used rather cluelessly (as spoken by kansas rep. lynn jenkins at the start of the 2010
elections season).
