the quality is truly exceptional. in fact, this show was the best hd content
i've seen anywhere. it exceeds the quality of apple's 720p trailers. if you have
any information on the specifics of the encoding methods, i would love to learn
more. as i said earlier on #eztv, i would like to any way i can distributing 24
in 720p. thanks for all your hard work guys!

does anybody know if these .mkv 720p files will play on my
powerbook g4 1.67? i normally download the
hr versions, but i would love the 720p version to play through my tv. cheers,
chris.

i am not a mac user so i think you should search the forums at afterdawn dot com.
hopefully someone over there knows what the answer is good hunting!

there is a mac version of vlc ,not sure if that is enough .......

you can't even compare. the 720p is far better than the 700 mb release. it's
also far superior to dvd. note that not only is the resolution significantly
larger (1280x720), the codec x264 is a more advanced and efficient codec,
especially for hd. download the show- you won't be disappointed. however, you
may never want to watch sd content again.

if you want to get an idea of what it will look like download apple's hd
trailers in 720p (play them in vlc, not quicktime). the quality on these 24
releases is superior, at least in my opinion, to the apple hd trailers.

i'm running on a am xp 3000+ (2 ghz) and 1 gb of ram. here are my suggestions
for optimum performance with these 720p x264 shows (all of the current 720p hd
releases are in x264 as it's a superior format to xvid/divx for hd). i've tested
with windows media player, vlc, mplayer, and windows media player classic with
the core avc codec.

with vlc and mplayer, the video generally played smoothly but there were many
times were it would slow down noticeably. i could see it slow down to only a few
frames per second during the explosion scene of episode 1.

windos media player- plays the first few seconds of video and then stops. i'm
not sure why.

my suggested setup: windows media player classic (which you can download here:
[url removed]
and core avc ([url removed] you have to pay for the core avc codec,
but it's damn worth it.

with this setup, i'm able to play the videos smoothly without any slowdown. even
in the explosion scene, wmp classic maintained 23-24 fps (had status up).
however, you have to disable the internal codecs in wmp classic.

here's how to setup windows media player classic (after installing coreavc)

1. open wmp classic, select view > options and then select internal filters.
2. disable every file type. the goal is to force core avc to run as the playback
filter.
3. select external filters. select "core avc video decoder". select "prefer" in
the radio box.
4. restart wmp classic and open the downloaded hd x264 video.

hello guys,

i downloaded the episode, and tried to convert it with convertxtodvd but it
says that it's not a a/v file, normally convertxtodvd can convert .mkv .
i hope you guys can help me with this because i would like to follow the show
in hd.

hey guys, i'm having trouble with these...

i know how to play .mkv files, but i think it's with the saints rips (i.e.
episodes 1 - 4). all the ctu ones play fine (episode 5 -9 are fine), but with
the saints rips.. i can play them, but if i try to skip with vlc (i tried both
0.85 and 0.86a) by clicking and dragging the time, then it crashes.

anyone having this trouble?

other than that, great release. if you want full quality, recording your
own .ts file from qam tv is better. ota is even better. i did some screen caps
between the 3, and ota wins, but... its a huge 5gb you gotta store each week
=p great work!
