note to syfy, when you make a spin-off of a sci-fi series atleast make sure its on the same level
sci-fi wise. then again syfy isn't trying to put out sci-fi anymore so this was to be expected.

syfy is fail!

what a shame. this show had some real potential... blame the writers imo. after the mid season break
episode, the show completely lost all momentum. the main focus of the entire show turned on to the
overdramatised and extremely boring inner workings of the terrorist group "sto". all of the sci-fi
and appeal went out of the window.

the best thing to come out of this was the excellent performances by the lead actors, especially
alessandra torresani and eric stoltz. hopefully they'll go on to bigger and better things.

i hope that ronald d moore gets a slap on the wrist too. he's obviously got his head up his own ass,
trying to make an overdramatised and dragged out soap opera for a sci-fi channel.

i have had trouble following it since it restarted, if they followed more on the cylon thread maybe would
have been understandable. i am sure it would have made more sense if it had time to finish it's story line.

syfy also recently announced another bsg prequel... maybe they'll do it right the second time around?

a plot that went nowhere. stargate universe as the competing angstfest. bad ratings. and a sci-fi
channel that don't want to be a sci-fi channel.

all reasons to why once again a show gets strangled in its infancy.

clearly "caprica" didn't fit into syfy's schedule, coming as it does amidst the pervasive reality tv
drek that passes for its programming. now perhaps we could figure out a way to convert the series
into a reality series. it would no doubt find a home on syfy afterall.

splitting a show constantly into parts then saying " it didnt draw a following" in the uk we have seasons of
a show .. either 13 or 26 episides. in the us it seams that most channels break for lunch on nearly every
show then cancel when people have trouble following a show time never mind plot.

as the early post said too .. the " sto" plot line was drawn out and long and never seamed to be going
anywhere and those of us that were looking forward to a " birth of the cylons" prequal were actually
exposed to a sunday morning sermon about "one true god". the show lost its way by not being constant in
its show times and loosing its own plot line by having virtually no connection with bsg other than the odd
cgi cylon/zoe and the name "adama"

i hate to see shows cancelled when the channel itself gives up .. i thought this kind of thing was just fox ..
ohh well .. you will see "dancing big americas got brothers talent on ice" on scifi soon instead

the plot went nowhere really slowly. they should fire the writers.
the current stories were just terrible.

why did caprica fail? have you ever turned to the last page of a book, read who the culprit was, then gone back and
read the entire thing from the beginning? me neither.

syfy ended one show, then went back and started airing "new" bits of a story we'd already seen and finished. i honestly
don't think this is rocket science, here, folks. i'm a huge scifi fan, and eat up just about anything that gets aired (there's
so little of it available at any one time), but even i didn't watch caprica (beyond the pilot, which i watched merely out of
curiosity). the concept, to me, was just boring. i didn't want to watch the unfolding tale of a bunch of people i saw blown
to bits several years earlier. now, do a show about all the survivors that were left behind back on the colony worlds, set
after the galactica found earth, and i'd be glued to the set each week.

note to syfy...

don't bother; they never listen to fans, and when they do they either misinterpret what we say or mangle it into
something else to justify what they want to do. i'll give you an example...

fans: bring back galactica!

syfy: ok, we'll remake it!

fans: no, bring *back* galactica. the original story.

syfy: ok, we'll remake it!

fans: uhm, wow. no, we want you to revive the old show. y'know, pick-up somewhere after the original show went off
the air and continue the story. check out richard hatch's proof-of-concept video, it's awesome! do that!

syfy: ok, we'll remake it!

fans: (***thumping heads into nearest wall in frustration***) you're really not even listening to a word we're saying,
are you?

syfy: ok, we'll remake it!

fans: ...

the "new" bsg was a good show on its own merits, but still, if they were going to do a show like that, one that was so
unique and well-done, they really should have just given it its own unique title and not called it bsg in the first place. by
using the name (when they really didn't need to), they've pretty much killed any chance of reviving the original story and
continuing it. that's the part that always bothered me. we could've had both.

oh, please tell me you're kidding. this is turning into a bad running joke.

i'm utterly baffled by that statement, unless i'm misunderstanding you. our shows in the states typically run 13 or 26 (or
nowadays closer to 22-24 for a full season), but i've complained for years about uk tv having only a handful of eps (4-6
on average) and calling it a season/series. i've almost never seen a uk show with 26 eps for a season. i know the
methodology is usually different, treating each "series" like a novel adapted to tv (which is good, and i wish we'd do
more of that here, --although it's not always done, such as with ultraviloet, which left us hanging and was cancelled), but
it does leave one wanting more too quickly, and having to wait a year (or more, in some cases) for the next series.
that's very frustrating.

first off, syfy seems to have lost its' sci fi spark it once had. i demand some more quality sci fi
shows. is it that hard to get an original sci fi show?

anyways, i love caprica and i don't really know why people are having a hard time following the
storyline. i'm pretty sure the sto storyline will eventually tie into zoe/tamara. zoe and tamara
are currently inside new cap city as deathwalkers and you could say they are the first conception of
a cylon. i saw some excellent potential with zoe/tamara storyline. i agree that the writers could
have moved a little faster with the sto plot. it seems a little drawn out.

what is crazy to think about is how the writers would go from mechanical robotic parts to cylon
human-like tissue. one thing is the monotheistic nature of sto relates to the cylon's monotheistic
nature.

sad news, if they didn't have such a big break mid season people might have got more into it and the
same can be said for v.
the show is no battlestar but it's still good.
what a shame but considering firefly only got one season and was so much better im not surprized.
executives at tv studios have no idea so many great shows end before their time.

not surprising....the show was incredibly slow. the plot was stumbling along like a drunk russian.

is not that the plot is hard to follow, in fact its very easy. its the simple fact that it was stale and boring.

plus the actress playing zoe is absolutely woeful, for a character that was going to be so central to the
eventual story she couldn't act her way out of a paper bag.

probably nothing new here, but adding my own thoughts anyway....

1. i liked the show, but it was definitely not a bsg, nor did it really make sense to me as a
prequel in the context of how bsg ended and the story caprica was trying to tell! so, though i could
follow the plot easy enough, i felt like the writers underestimated their viewing audience and
didn't seem to really care about overall plot consistency.

2. maybe having such long gaps between episodes in the same season - then changing the air date/time
- and then deciding to pull it even before it could really settle in to the new date/time is a
problem?!?!?!

just how the hell is it supposed to get an audience that follows it with no incentive to stay
"hooked" due to the excessive delay between episodes and the moving around of a schedule?!?!?!
honestly, you'd think these executives would ask the fans!

oh well. i was becoming ambivalent about the show, but tried to stay faithful to it. now, i have no
incentive to watch the rest of the shows, being that there will be yet another delay to finish it
out! at least give me the rest of the season now, in one shot, and i'd finish it.

alas, not to be.....

i echo what someone else said about a show set after galatica finds earth... now that would be
interesting!
