and it wasn't even news to boot, it was an op-ed piece, and a really lame and useless one that
didn't even bring anything to the table at that.
man, i wish people would learn that the news section is supposed to be for actual current breaking
news about tv shows and/or the torrent scene, and isn't there for reviewing, editorialising, opinion
sharing or gathereing, or to act as anyone's personal pulpit. i mean is that really so hard to
understand?
yeah, whoever posted this article, really should have seriously posted a spoiler warning. not that it
effects me, as i just watched the last two episodes back to back, a few hours ago, before watching this
week's doctor who. still all the same, if you are going to post anything with spoilers, don't be a dick,
and warn people.
as for the question of whether to bring the show back for season six? for anyone who truly gives a shit
about the show, the answer is obvious - no.
and it's an answer that was even obvious last summer, when what was at stake was fully revealed in
the season 4 finale.
think about it. the winchester boys simultaneously defeat the amassed armada of both hell and
heaven; lucifer and michael. going back to hunting wendigos and and vampires after climbing
such massive heights, is the very definition of anti-climactic. anything the series could do from here on
out, is never going to compare to what the series has accomplished to date.
think of it another way. remember how boringly stupid stargate sg1 was after they defeated the
goa'uld, and started adding seasons on to deal with the ori? or remember the last three seasons of the
x-files? the fifth season of babylon 5? or how about second and third matrix films? or maybe the entire
star wars prequel trilogy? the fourth indiana jones film?
there just comes a point in a series like this, where the story that is being told, is truly over and
everyone (cast, crew, creators, network and fans), just need to move on and preserve the goodness
that was.
if they really want to bring supernatural back, then maybe they should look to bringing the winchesters
to the silver screen - i could stand watching a larger than life adventure of the boys in imax 3d. but
mark my words, if they bring it back to the small screen starting with a season six, by the time the cw
finally cancels the show (around season 10 or something), we all will have long since prayed for the end
. . . like with smallville.
at the end of the day, supernatural is awesome, as-is. you keep tacking on to it, and you are going to
wind up with dallas. once upon a time, it was the greatest television program that had ever been made.
but after 14 seasons, it had gotten so watered down and convoluted, that at one point, the shows
producers had to write off an entire season of the show as a dream sequence.
fans of supernatural may think they want more, but judging by hollywood's track record of
screwing up any project past it's prime, you have to really be careful what you wish for - you just
may get it.
yeah thanks i was trying to avoid spoilers for this until i'd watched it so a warning would have
been nice!
as for whether or not it should come back for a 6th season of course it should - sure they might not
be able to top the 5 year heaven v hell v winchesters storyline but would there really be anything
wrong with at least one more year of the brothers and bobby hunting wendigos and stuff? they were
the good old days as sam said last week and i'd love to see more of it.
bring on season 6 and n ext time remenver the damn spoiler alert!!!!!!!!!!!!!
re: spoilers, you're right, it should be stated as a warning, but to be fair, that article clearly crawled into them. the first
few paragraphs (which contain no spoilers) are obviously referring to the ending, and building up towards spoiler
territory, so i find it tough to accept that anyone reading the article couldn't stop themselves from going any further
when it actually got that far. (unless, of course, someone was just glancing-over things quickly without really reading it
all, then it would certainly be hard to avoid.)
anywho, regarding both supernatural and stargate, i see it completely differently. for stargate, the end of the original
meta-plot wasn't a bad thing, but creating a substitute meta-plot was. had they gone to a relatively standalone ep format
(self-contained, unique stories), i think it would have been much better.
supernatural, on the other hand, now has the chance to return to where it jumped the shark and get back on track. the
angels/demons/end-of-the-world meta-plot that lasted several seasons just totally blew. the show was a blast when it
was a cross between night stalker and route 66 (route 666, heh heh). following "hunters" around as they chase
monsters was fun to watch. three years of the exorcist on crack wasn't. and y'know what? it wasn't even because
nobody writing the show appeared to have done any actual biblical research or ever cracked a bible open before making
all that crap up or trying to represent it on-screen, although that has been my chief complaint lo these long, tedious
years. nope, it's mainly because the story wasn't enjoyable or entertaining. it was a depressing, bleary-eyed drag. but
baby, now we've got a chance to see 'em back out there doing the cool stuff, fighting vampires, giving werewolves
impromptu shaves, and generally bumping back against things that go bump in the night. now that's worth watching. 🙂

agree with you about stargate and supernatural's potential for season 6+ but i did enjoy the
heaven\hell\winchesters plot immensely for the most part even if it wasn't biblically accurate(but
if it had been closer to true would they not have faced condemnation and pressure from the church
and religious groups?
anyway bring on season 6 - the only plus side of all those breaks during season 5 is we now only
have 3 months before new episodes...yay
i actually enjoyed everything about the ending except sam standing outside watching dean and lisa. i
didn't like that at all and with that, they need to create a new chapter. i'm just curious as to
what they will do with it.
seriously, how many complaints containing "spoiler alert" are there going to be? if you're stupid enough
to start reading posts about whether or not the show should return before you bothered to watch the
last ep. then you're the assholes! get a clue!
btw this is a forum discussion not news! poster should also get a clue!

i knew to be careful for spoilers and so didn't see anything spoilerish. however, i should point out that not
having seen the last episode and reading this article is not as clueless as you believe.
i can't speak for anyone else, but my plan was thus. i knew that season 5 was all kripke had planned, and
i haven't seen snl from the start in quite a while. i was figuring i would start from the start and see every
episode at one time. i have a similar approach planned for lost. so, i have not seen anything of the latest
seasons of either show. if there was to be a new season, then watching it all at one time would not be
possible.
now i have to weigh up whether i should watch all 5 seasons of snl, or just season 5, or watch it all now,
and watch it all again after season 6 is over. so, a non spoiler article would just be a shorter version of this
that i'd read with just as much caution and avoid spoilers just as in this case, so to me, there is no big
deal. i'm just advocating those who would read the article without the last season.
to you nay saying haters, no buddy cares about you're thought on a 6 season except the dumb ass that
posted this. the 6th season is going to happen no matter what, if you don't like it don't watch it.
you can clearly do anything with a show that has the name supernatural it doesn't have to be the
end. so please people quit whining.
but if it had been closer to true would they not have faced condemnation and pressure from the church
and religious groups?
possibly, but i suspect that, had they gotten it right (or hell, anything right) it would've garnered more praise, even
from religious groups, who would've touted it as a good learning tool for younger viewers to see righteous people
resisting and defeating satanic forces (including the greatest act of all; laying down one's life for another. sam is, of
course, an official martyr now which i assume is probably why we saw him in the end, either ressurected or now some
angelic "agent" of sorts). naturally this would be countered by some, who would point out the protagonists' various sinful
ways (dean's constant skirt chasing, for example), but overall i think accuracy would've gained more christian
supporters than detractors.

personally, i think any show i dont watch should be off the air. makes more room for shows i might
like.
careful. you're starting to sound like me, now. lol

so, i think it should be cancelled.
