i think syfy & hbo are about the only 2 \"best bets\" to pick up torchwood.

i\'d love to see hbo\'s take on torchwood since they are less likely to censor the stories.

syfy have the bigger audience but are more likely to make it \"family friendly\" which would kill it...

fox being taken out of the torchwood equation, is the best sci-fi news that i have heard all year. they
would only censor the hell out of the concept, and then cancel it after only three episodes when no one
liked all the way fox had crapped all over it.

considering what torchwood aspires to be, cable has always been the only stateside option for the show.
showtime, hbo and even starz are the only channels brave enough to allow torchwood to be as adult as it
wants to be, and broadcast on us television.

barring those networks, then amc. what they have done with breaking bad has been nothing short
awesome.

and barring that, then syfy, usa or fx. of course i guess we can expect a slightly watered down version
from these.

at the end of the day, i'd much rather see torchwood come to an end, than get ruined just so it can get us
network broadcasting.

i'm so glad fox came to their senses (probably just got scarred of the gay background, but whatever)
and said no to russell t. davies, serves him right for trying to sell out.

torchwood ended when they started killing off all the main characters they thought they could get away
with, so for me torchwood had 25 entertaining episodes and then jumped the shark. a show that kills of
more than 50% of it's people (3 out of 5) kills itself imho.

... and on the us versions again: why the heck did they want to make an american torchwood in the
first place? the british version is just fine, there's no slang americans won't understand (it's not like
they all talk in a cockney accent); just do a show about u.n.i.t. it's supposed to be american based
anyway.
are the viewers the only ones who pay attention anymore?

barrowman and his anti gay remarks scuttled this deal. he should be ashamed. why don't they kill of his character and
replace him with another actor. it worked for doctor who. besides, fox does not give sic fi shows a chance to generate an
audience. most of their sci fi shows last only one season. at least on syfy the show will languish there even if it is crappy.
stargate universe is terrible. so is sanctuary (now that they have killed off every interesting main character) but they are
guaranteed at least a 5 season run.

of what, calling fox out? telling tptb that it would be a bad idea and a cheap cop out to make cpt.
jack straight, just for the sake of the american viewers?

have you ever watched the shows? you can't kill of cpt. jack, he is a fixed point in time and space; the
doctor on the other hand re-generates, we all know by know cpt. jack doesn't come back from the
dead in another body. seriously, no!

syfy doesn't program for the science fiction fans anymore, they tried to go main stream for the big
bucks; can't wait to see them fail in a big way. there are already enough networks out there that
satisfy the masses, scifi had a special niche and was save, but now...

i couldn't agree more with your last statements though, sgu sucks big time and probably ruined the
franchise and sancturay started off as copy of torchwood and just doesn't know where it wants to go

torchwood sucks anyway, so i'm completely glad it won't be wasting a time slot of another show. i
find it hilarious that people are trying to use "because it's gay" as an excuse. any excuse to
advance their "cause" i guess. yawn. it's a poor show, end of story. goodbye.

i thought the week long special was great. not really a big fan of the series but i have to admit the idea of
having 5 continuous episodes was great, mainly because it reminded me of dr who of old (6 episodes for
one story, each a week apart). i doubt they'd do that on dr who ever again because people want things
wrapped up in one go, if they missed one they missed out. they still put out two-parters, like last week and
this week, but i'd like to see torchwood as the guinea pig for continuous storylines.
