never was able to finish the first episode of dollhouse, thats because im still hung up on firefly.

i never understood why joss decided to work for \"fux\" again. if he tries a different show im sure he
will get persuaded to team up with \"fux\" again...

at least with dollhouse we got a reasonably satisfactory ending, unlike firefly.

dollhouse in a way is what true science fiction should be. the whole milieu was different from our
world because of the technology that created the dolls. this was initially little more than a
backdrop to show which in the first season was largely a series of self-contained episodes as the
dolls lived different lives week to week (granted, there was other stuff developing, in the
background but the primary drive was a little bit like kung fu or the incredible hulk where the hero
wandered into a new town and sorted things out and left by the end of the episode). season two was
quite different, again in a true sci-fi way, the implications of technology were being explored and
followed to their logical conclusion.

the two epitaph episodes were of high contrast. the first one had me sitting there going "what the
hell? where did that come from?". knowing that epitaph 2 was coming, i re-watched epitaph 1, and it
fitted so much better at the end of season 2 and was, of course, much less of a surprise. the
epitaph episodes are a bit like a mini-series version of season 3, and pretty satisfactorily finish
things off (something that feels like it is rarely done, with the except of bsg).

let's hope joss whedon has one or two more shows like this in him.

one burning question remains - why the hell have five people not rated dollhouse on imdb yet?

yeah,

it suffers from criticitis, inability to not be hyper critical.

instead, why not hype the positives of the show. you have said you are happy with olivia, whoopdie...

it is the whole that is important, not that topher grates on your nerves. because fox is the only
entity willing to take on the joss we will probably not see much any time soon. also joss is doing
avengers, so maybe later. a dollhouse movie would be nice.

i think they did smashingly well, considering the general aversion people have towards sci-fi. all
it would really take is a better marketing campaign by fox, but...

the main problem is that those in charge, ala rossum, do not wish material like this to survive,
like firefly. it gives us hope, but we don't need too much hope, just one or 2 seasons worth.
maybe 2 is better than one, as we see from firefly-serenity. 3 seasons is too much hope, or
whatever. too much focus on the sorry state of our world and too much inspiration that might lift
us out of our poop.

too much response to this old post, but... there it is.

give fox props for trying. it is a money thing, and an oppression thing. the people are perhaps
too doll.
