has anyone else found it really strange that the series is now on a break till feb
now that sky has bought the series and has started to run it in the uk on sky one
ithink they are up to ep 4 now of the new series the us series stopped at ep6 so
it would appear that wen in the uk will get ep7 before the series return in the
us..............or will we!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i believe this will be the first mid-season break for a uk station, of more
than say 2 weeks for like olympics/world cup or the such. i'm not sure (but i
am sure someone will correct me if wrong) but no uk (or show shown in the uk)
has ever taken such a long break, 'just because', we would normally not start
showing it until the us break was almost over. as with the last 2 seasons,
when lost was on channel 4 here, they started some 3 months after it did in
the us.

there is not a chance that abc would allow some sky british channel thingy to
overtake them. its an american show, we get it first.

stargate sg-1 will also be taking a hiatus from new episodes after airing its
tenth episode. stargate atlantis however will not and will overtake sci fi.

and yes - lost is better being on sky one as they're a lot faster. channel 4 /
e4 just suck and take their time over everything.

don't be so sure of that mate. you'd be surprised just how much the uk is
catching up and even overtaking the us nowadays (more so with dvd releases, but
often with tv broadcasts as well). over previous years, stargate sg-1 and
atlantis have always gone ahead over here and sga is again this year. as much as
i hate the uk, watch it with the insulting sky one (some sky british channel
thingy). i have a good friend working for them and they do a damn good job -
equally equivelant to fox, abc, nbc and cbs put together over here.

ditto man. don't be so sure until you've at least read all the facts about other
shows. when something takes a 13-week hiatus after just six episodes, theres a
damn good chance other countries will just say "screw you" to abc and throttle
ahead. happens a lot with other shows.

sorry about the long reply - just a lot to be said. sorry if i annoy anybody -
but i don't like people who just assume stuff without even bothering to read up
on stuff - people who can also be referred to as thinking they know it all.

when the networks on-sell their programming, especially the big stuff like lost,
the rules about what can and can't be shown and when are very strictly set down.
i'm certain that with a show like lost, prison break or heroes the networks
will put very strict rules down on not going ahead of the initial network, as
they know the potential damage to ratings that could occur as a result of downloads.

sg-1 and sg:a are not good examples to cite in this particular discussion
because they air on scifi in the us. scifi is a cable channel, and as such is
substantially less interested in ratings figures because advertising revenue is
not their primary (or only) income stream.

with the exception of struggling shows which have been shelved or cancelled, i
very much doubt we will see other countries get in front of the us on any
original network programming.

this in not a dig at all americans. it is amusing though that some of them ( not
anyone from this site ) think that the tv world revolves around them. to a
massive extent it does . . but i always get a laugh when americans b*tch on the
lost discussion forums when canadians talk about the episode before the
americans even see it. the threads are labeled "discussion for ep ** " and they
carry on when canadians discuss it.
anyway this post is off topic and isn't meant to be a bash at all americans,
only those who think they are the center of the world, which in a lot of ways
they are, when their shows get spoiled by canadians.

i personally think that there is no chance lost will air in the uk before canada
/ america.

now in day break they are supposedly showing "snippets" of future lost eps to
keep the tension up. anyone know where we can get these snippets ?

i don't think sky will show lost before it airs in the us, but i do think we
won't get the 13 week break, i think they will come back either the same week,
or the week after it does for you guys, so our break will be more like 8-9
weeks.

i really couldn't care less how great you think your country is. pissing
contest removed, stick to discussion of lost going on break (if you think there
is anything that still needs to be said, personally i think this thread needs no
further responses).
