this tidbit is unfortunate since sgu is a steaming pile of crap compared to its predecessors. its
basically star trek voyager with wholly unlikable and unsavory characters.

i agree shakoor. people are starting to watch absolute rubbish. atlantis was way superior than this
wash up.

next they will be reporting that caprica will be watched by more than any of the bsg's or the new
series of v is more watched than the original series.

you can prove anything with numbers i suppose.

awesome.

sgu has managed to be 10000x better in 10 episodes than atlantis managed in 100. long live sgu.

lol @ the haters.

sgu rocks and it is next in the stargate series, like it or not...

atlantis was cool, but it had run it's course, at least syfy gave it a decent finish and didnt just
cancel the friggin thing leaving everybody hanging...

and i got news for ya - caprica *is* going to be awesome...

how do you people ever decide that you like anything, seems to me your just happy whining and
moaning about anything thats fresh and new......

change is a *good* thing, open your mind to it, you'll be happy you did..

long live syfy!!

atlantis was the bane of sg1's existence. in fact, atlantis was to sg-1 and sg-u is to atlantis.
(sg-1 < atlantis < sg-u) . of course people watch a bunch of bullshit on today's tv. that's why
american idol got renewed for another 2 seasons and shows like "firefly" get canceled after one.

the idea that they're marooned on a ship they can't control is riveting, and since his debut on 24's
redemption, the scottish scientist is my favorite character and really makes the show for me.
watching the colonel waddle around the ship half asleep *even after (spoiler) he finds out his wife
is cheating on him*.

all in all, sg-u is better than 90% of shows currently playing.

might i add that atlantis started out insanely boring and seemed little different than sg-1 other
than the alien sg team that we were supposed to become attached to. after a while, we wanted john
shepard to succeed and we cared about whether or not the head ioa guy (from trek: voyager) died.

what's my point? just give it a little time to give yourself a chance to empathize with the
characters you like and detest the characters who suck.

i hope to see how sg-u evolved, especially with (spoiler again) the gate scientist stranded on the
alien planet with nothing but the crashed ship there and no idea where destiny is going. maybe
he'll meet an alien race finally!!

sgu has led the franchise away from true science-fiction. it has become nothing more than any other
run of the mill tv drama; overproduced, underwritten, cliche filled pap is what the american public love
to have fed to them. i will forever shake my head in shame at syfy.

i agree graedus, that is, i think sgu does show signs of a network's hand in production. the show
would be so much more if there was payoff in the overall narrative arc once in awhile. some episodes
are almost entirely stand-alones while others barely move the story along.
even though the characters are being taken for an uncontrollable ride across the other side of the
universe (which should be exciting), the fact that they're helpless and stuck leaves us with an episode
of 'big-brother' with lots of character driven drama.
if you turn the volume way up, you can hear george jetson in the background yelling "jane! stop this
crazy thing!".

i think some people have a seriously skewed view of what sf actually is :s it's just as much about
how people act when faced with the fantastic as it is about gee-whiz gadgets and technobabble and
the deus ex machina.

sg:u is great. as much as i loved sg1 and liked atlantis, the whole
"light-sf-with-self-referential-humour" thing is extremely overplayed. it's refreshing to have some
sf with a more serious tone to balance things out. otherwise they'd just run straight into the same
pit that voyager and enterprise dug for star trek.

geez, you've got what, fifteen bloody years worth of the jokey sg you like already. stop being so
fucking precious!

since sgu went on break, i did something i didn't think i'd do, watch stargate atlantis. never saw
it before in my life, i only saw the first season of sg-1 when it originally aired, and never
watched anymore stargate until sgu. it's sad that just because sgu deviates from the normal stargate
tv show setup, a bunch of fanboys need to cry foul and badmouth a good show.

this might sound insane to you "real" stargate fans, but now i like both shows, and i'll be watching
sg-1 in it's entirety after i'm done with atlantis. i mean, hell, what else do i have to watch since
"syfy" puts the show on hiatus while they show the first half of caprica.

it's not hard to see how it bet it, if you dumb a show down enough and make it so it has a bigger
audience appeal range of course you'll beat it in the ratings. but this bullshit human survival
drama no way compares to the science fiction escapism i loved about sg-1 and atlantis. i wanna see
freaky aliens and intriguing storylines based on scientific principles. not who's sleeping around
with who or omg how the hell are we going to survive this impossible task, there's only 30sec on the
clock. speaking of which, sg-1 made fun of that very concept in the episode "200". "daniel: what
difference does it make, its not like your going to actually have a ticking clock on the screen.
marty: that's brilliant. daniel: that's ridiculous. marty: jepordy plus ticking clock is box office.
its the e=mc2 of the entertainment world, ask any executive." they obviously hooked up with some of
those executives for sgu.

sgu isn't bad, in fact its a good show it just no way compares to
the caliber that sg-1 and atlantis brought to the table.

ps: fuck you syfy, i know you have the other 10 episodes of season 1, stop this bullshit breaking up
seasons over 2 years. its ridiculous.

what i don't understand is why fans of sgu get so hostile because someone says something negative
about the show. so you love everything about it, there's no reason to attack people that find fault
with the show. it doesn't make any sense to me, so what if someone else doesn't appreciate what you
do or has different taste or ideas about it.

what's worse is when those very same people go and attack another show after chastising someone for
not liking sgu.

"steaming pile of crap" and "absolute rubbish" aren't criticism, they're examples of unadulterated whining.
there's a great many sgu fans (myself included) who'll not hold back in the least at making fun of and
harassing people like that. but that doesn't extend to people with valid, well-voiced criticisms of the series.
that kind of thing is always welcome.

the sgu the comparison with atlantis is ficticious with atlantis more people watched as it was
televised unlike sgu also the the atlantis numbers do not include the +7 day numers this is just mgm
& the producers trying to conteract all the negative feeling among the fans. it should be noted they
have planted people in many forums to prop up the show & have used strong arm tactics to force
forums & websites to censor negative feedback whilst allowing the planted postive reports!
