can't say i'm surprised or disappointed. this show never really did much for me. i usually watched
it with the attitude of, "well, its better than being completely bored."
last season had such a clear cut story arc with a built in tension. this was especially true in
culminating agent ballard's (tahmoh penikett) investigation of the dollhouse.
then there was the unaired 'epilogue' episode which was so mind blowing i had very high hopes for this
season and seasons to come.
but, this fall, they not only didn't keep the energy and momentum they had going but actually
backpedaled a bit. this season has been too straight forward. where's the duplicity? where's the
paranoia and psychological terror?
hopefully they got a few good curveballs left for us to wrap this up. (and i, for one, hope one of them
has whiskey's name on it).
and sarah connor chronicles died so this show could go on.......
if any of this season had been half as good as epitaph one, then it would get renewed, but its been a total
waste of time, so i'm not sad to see it go really.
can't say i'm surprised or disappointed. it is fox.
can't say i'm surprised or disappointed. season two hasn't been as good as 'epitaph one' led me to
believe.
can't say i'm surprised or disappointed. joss weadon has done better work.
however, having joss make tv shows is still miles better than most of the guff out there, which
millions of people tune into week after week to get a 'will they, won't they' and 'oh someone died,
heres how it happened and heres who did it!' every show ends with a sickening 'see you again next
week suckers!'
dollhouse at least had the balls to make that season 1 finale, and 'epitaph one' was one of the best
things i've seen on tv for years. if only it was like that every week or two...
clearly whedon wanted too much here. epitaph one was a blast and then season 2 happened. some nice
ideas but not enough to save audience from boredom.
still a shame though. dollhouse was definitely one of the shows that deserved some airplay but got
axed nonetheless. to mention but a few : carnivale, surface (cheesy as hell, but what a last
episode...) or more recently, the already-missed defying gravity.
and of course the shitty reality stuff or whatever still attracts millions and get renewed year
after year. this world is going crazy (and i mean bad crazy).
season one was alright. i wouldn't have been upset with it getting canceled. then, i saw epitaph
one. it was amazing. season two was a lot better because of it and it gave me something to look
forward to. i'm sad that they canceled it. of course, it never really had a chance being on friday
nights.
i also agree with eladrien. terminator should've never been canceled.
fox didn't even give summer glau's guest appearances a chance to bring up the dollhouse viewers
either. not that it would have made much difference. hopefully, summer and eliza and joss will work
together again very soon! maybe joss will get smart and actually leave fox!
i'd also like to say how fracked up the ratings system is. there are a lot better and more efficient
ways to count viewers now. use them!
ah well, another cool show ax'd before it truly matures...
dollhouse was a great concept, different from your normal tv bs, the lead imo played her part to
perfection.
i personally didnt care for each and every episode, but watched them just the same..
fox needs to get their head out and start recognizing things for what they are, quit being greedy
"ratings" bastards...
i am about to "ax" fox from my list of networks to watch...
while i've seen every episode, it's basically about pimps and sex slaves. last week's show (2.4)
was uncharacteristically wonderful. not just as a dollhouse ep, but as a tv show in general. it
cracked the surface of the unethical premise and had some great cinematography.
i look forward to the double episode fridays.
fridays in general have been excellent this season. there is absolutely no reason for a show to be
canceled based on ratings when there are at least 5 shows to dvr.
this was a great show. it started of poorly, but after you get into the the back half of the first
season, you realize that the way the show started out had a very specific reason. what it comes down
to is that dollhouse was just too smart and not mouthbreather enough to stay alive. i knew this was
canceled as soon as it was announced that there would be more than a month between episodes. fuck fox.
and you make another great point ""a month between episodes"" how is that giving a show of any type
a fair chance?, people tend to lose interest, the show would have maintained if not gained more of a
viewer base if it was allowed to aire each and every week...
if anyones to blame for the "under par" ratings it is fox...
they need to pull their heads out of you know where and start making better decisions, it is more
than enough to piss off the good humor man!!
