her reaction is priceless; and probably the only redeeming part of that terrible skit. i'd fire her
purely for not performing the skit well. i find it funny that at basically the hour when nothing
but girls gone wild and phone sex ads come on, its a big deal if someone says fuck. i feel bad for
her cuz she prolly will get canned for dropping the bomb, but i can tell you this. the audience's
ears perked up a little bit more in hopes that she'd do it again. prolly dampened the laughter even
more cuz they weren't listening for jokes just the word fuck!

oh, bloody hell (in general)! i just don't get why anyone should make a big deal of someone saying
fuck.
there are way worse things to say/show/do on television.
but as i know us viewers, this might get as big as "nipplegate". seriously, over here in europe there
are quite a few shows (normal network stations, not what you think) that pay their guests to use this
and similar "frowned upon" words.

it's even stupider when you think about the snl sketch from 3~ years ago; "sofa king"

4 cast members were parodying a furniture store (with foreign accents) where everything was "sofa
king", which was basically "so fucking" with the accents.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p_nqxsbh5ns
"our prices are sofa king cheap!"

if that's not offensive, how is a sketch with hundreds of "fricking and "friggin", with 1 accidental
"fucking" thrown in by mistake?

i don't get it either but i've become accustomed to it from my fellow americans. they freaked out
when a u.s. soldier said fuck or shit in some journalist interview because a bomb went off nearby or
something similar. even if one thinks swearing is generally a "sin" or whatever, if ever there was
an appropriate time for it, i would assume army dudes getting shot at would be it. apparently i was
wrong.

censors should be fired. i mean c'mon it's 2009. you hear worse words coming out of the school yard
these days. besides, the show airs at 23:30, who are they supposedly protecting anyways? i could see
why it would be a big deal if the show was a family oriented one, but snl is an adults show that
airs when kids should be in bed.

i've always thought the idea of censoring was dumb. what's the point? to protect people and/or their
kids from stuff they don't want to see or hear? why don't these people think for themselves for a
second and change the channel if they don't like something. i'm tired of seeing blobs of blur and
beeps in shows i watch because some morons can't heed the warning at the beginning of the show.

well said.
sadly, i'll bet there are still people who turn on their tv, see the big "dslv" in the corner of the screen
and think, "hm... i wonder what those letters mean... ohmygod!!! this show is full of drugs,
sex, language & violence!!! i can't let my kid who's watching tv at 12.30am see this!"

i like how a few people have made it sound like the it's the viewers who have any
problem with it
whatsoever. it is solely within the false reality bubble that the networks, their censors, sponsors, and
the fcc live in. it is yet another facet of the broken and obsolete television environment, and not a
reflection on viewers whatsoever.

it's this one voice can make a difference thing with the viewers involvement. isn't it awlays the "crazy
cat lady" or the "trailer park guy" kinda stereotypical person they ask for their opinion (and i don't want
to offend any person here, this little rant is against the fcc and the major network stations).

so i'm pretty sure if the networks want someone to comment on this, they'll find just the right mother,
crying about how her precious little boy was confronted with this bad, bad word in school by friends,
who told him after seeing the show, 'cause their parents weren't responsible enough to stop their child
from watching television so late at night. and in her reasoning the network programmers should take
responsibility for even airing such filthy stuff. < /rant >

as someone above already said, all this censoring stuff is utter bollocks. what ever happened to
switching the channel? has everyone lost their remote control or are they just to lazy to get up?

everytime i hear about such a potential major story as the "f-bomb" on national television i have to go
listen to george carlin to calm my nerves.

and btw. i vote for a new f word you can't say on television, "foreclosure", this fits way better with this
economy.

god bless being in canada and how ctv played sopranos and dexter with full nudity and cussin as long
as it was after 10:00 (episodes were shortened though)... how south park uncensored is starting to
play mid day on comedy network ... its a great country... ( i know all the shows are made in the
states... but thats not what we are talkin about )
