The CW developing a series based on the early days of Robin, Batman's sidekick

i give this a straight to dvd pilot release at best. after making the pilot
they'll probably come to realize what i already know, that this is a dumb idea.

theres nothing exciting about robin, pre-robin. he was a circus boy. no drama,
no action, no villians, no nothing. what exactly are they trying to sell here
except for some make believe story of an adventurous trampoline boy?

while i still think its a horrible idea i can see their thinking behind this.
like smallville they are just going to have the circus travelling around from
town to town city to city and have him saving people and uncovering mysteries.
robin in training so to speak.

i was more interested in aquaman and i actually saw the spectacular trash that
was the pilot.

this is the worst idea ive ever heard, theres nothing to robin's life before
batman, he was a circus act with his parents, thats it. adding this crap in is
going to be horrible, especially since robin will be what, 13-14 years old? if
they make him older all i can see is it being a prequal to the batman & robin
that scarred all our minds... they may aswell bring chris o'donnell back to
reprise his role...

this is gunna be bad, especially if they replace smallville with it. smallville
has had its bad episodes but it seems this new series is really setting up
towards a superman show, the last episode felt like superman not smallville.

as one who would love to see something succeed from the batman universe, i don't
think this would be it. this kind of premise would be best suited for a 30
minute daytime cable show or something. not an hour long show to replace
smallville.

if they really want to make something like this float? do a nightwing show.
simple plot, twist what we already know a little. robin decides to move on, and
become nightwing! but in a different city: bludhaven. leave batman off limits,
or hint about it, like birds of prey (bop still wasn't a bad show, needed better
stories/plots) did. hell, have the new robin pop in from time to time, batgirl,
catwoman? that would have so much more potential.

do something like this properly, not half-assed.

these superhero 'origin' series don't always work, especially when they have no
special powers early on. "flash" anyone? scifi canceled the series before he
even got his super speed.
