all i want to know is whether this is another completely fucked/rushed release from the totally incompetent dimension - such as the major issues that last week's completely fucked/rushed 720p
release of house had.

boo, it looks like this was nuked! i saw this on doopes.com

2008-09-29 12:28:46 nukes
dexter.s03e01.720p.hdtv.x264-dimension.nuke:out.of.sync.throughout_number.of.ms.oos.varies

i was going to wait to download in case of a nuke but i didn't want to wait to
see the show. ☹️

can someone post here if they find a proper, a few times it seemed like 720p
propers weren't posted on eztv.

lol, did it again. was in a hurry this morning and saw dexter and clicked without checking further
assuming the first one was smaller (normal?) 350mb size. problem is my pc is just a hair to slow to do
proper playback (sounds starts going out of synch). the question is now that is downloaded should i
seed. i feel compelled to share even though i can't watch show myself since i did download, but at 1.4gb
its gonna take 4 times as long to seed, what a pain. weirdly enough i have a second partition with
opensuse that can at times play back hd with kaffine player. wonder why as linux usually doesn't do as
well/easily as microsoft. i have used vlc, media player classic, and others on xp with no luck.

he who clicks in haste shall reap the whirlwind..

guys, i just finished the 720p version and yes i did notice the out of sync but
it's not that bad. as a matter of fact it seemed to lessen during the episode or
maybe i just got used to it and my brain corrected it for me.

bottom line.. the 720p version is totally watch-able and in beautiful quality
otherwise.

the sd (standard def) copy was nuked by the group, something was wrong and
expect a repack. since only a dvdscr of this has been released so far, you can
expect a sd release eventually.

the scene has rules for nukes. it can only be a dupe if it's from the same
source. so if randomtvgroup released an hdtv rip of the episode, no one else
can unless there is a valid proper reason. since a dvdscr is a completely
different source from dsrip or hdtv it would not stop someone from posting that
release.

if a given source has already been released, any dupes would have to be labeled
proper with a valid nuke reason i.e. invalid.matrix, outofsync, missing.segement

there are various nuke reasons, most of which are valid and serve a purpose,
namely, saving those of us that stick to scene releases, from having to dig
through 15 releases of the same material.

720p is great, and for dexter, comes in handy. not everyone can decode and play
hd on their pc. mkv is a good container, but not supported by many stand alone
devices, if any. they look fantastic on my 42' 1080p display, but when the ps3
that plays them doesn't directly support the format, meh!

variety is the spice of life, get this if you have a nice display and rig that
supports it, or wait, your choice, just don't complain

its 1.45gb (not 1.4 which would imply 1.40) because this is 57 minutes instead
of your average 42min.
so to keep about the same bitrate and quality as the regular 720p rips,
they increase the file size. and i'm aware that in the past they did 720p
encodes at 1.09gb for even long shows like this, but they were lower quality.

someone said 1.4gb is a bit much for 42min 720p, well actually even 2.18gb 720p
(1/2 dvd) isn't 100% transparent (but very close) when using a decent source so
1.45gb 42min would be nice and 1.09gb 42min is rather lossy by comparison to the
source.
