hello :-)

thanks for the help before people.
but i have another question, i have been looking on the net i just haven't
found out why?.

i can play (divx 3-4-5-6)&(xvid)&(mpeg-4) as well as (svcd)&(vcd)+(dvd).
with my free standing dvd recorder.
i have just started to d/l the hr hdtv versions of my shows.
i burned 1 to a cd to watch downstairs in the living-room but the player won't
play it.

dose anybody out there know why and is there anything i can do about it.
i don't want to re-encode it as i may aswell turn it to a dvd if i do need to
re-encode.
after all it is a xvid isn't it.

if the player just won't play hr hdtv dose anybody know of a free standing dvd
recorder that will play the hr hdtv files as is.

well, thank you all for taking the time to read this.
look forward to reading a reply on this.

bye for now (si)(uk) ;-)

have you tried updating firmware? if it is a 700 meg hr rip, it should play. my
magnavox plays them. what file did you dl? you can also try downloading and
watching another hr from a different group and see if that works.

here before.

i will try and burn some other grops release and see if that work's.
also i will look to see if it has ac3 5.1 ot ac3 2ch like you said.
i'm sure the liteon (lvw-5115ghc+) plays sorround sound i will have to have

rofl...ac3 is preventing playback?? what aload of bollocks! next time you pick
up a dvd movie, have a look at the back cover and check the sound tracks
available... dolby digital? dts??

dolby digital is ac3 !! doh!!

'most' divx/dvd standalone players cannot play the hr (higher resolution -
960x540) files because they are based on first generation chipsets that only
support a maximum resolution of 720x576 (pal) and 720x480 (ntsc).

for playback of hr files, you need a player that utilises the newer chipsets
eg. sigma 8620/and higher

have a read here ...

thank you (rodney).

see i said in (another thread) this was a helpful site.
i have looked around on the net on (liteon) site ect.
i do find some of the tech forums are hard to navigate around.
didn't think people would mind as long as i couldn't find the same-ish question
on this site.
this dvd recorder we have here has gone faulty since i (flashed the chip) in
the recorder. (as liteon tech help said to do).
so it's going back to argos hopefully they will give me the money back.
or at least give me a replacement.
as this is now 6 months old i'm hoping the new one will play hr hdtv.

so relay, thanks for the info and the link i will take a look shortly.

bye for now (si)(uk) :-)
