well, i suppose that after stargate: tng and stargate: ds9, stargate: voyager
was inevitable.

pretty much. the sad thing is that the article compares universe to bsg?
seriously try again and you'll find its much more similar to voyager. for that
matter, as you so nicely put it, every single one of the stargates are pretty
much ripoffs of star trek.

doesnt mean i dont like'em but the storyline is starting to take its toll on
stargate. atlantis is the same shit different week. every once in a long while
some new exciting ep will pop up but dont hold your breath to long waiting for
that to happen.

oh yea i also forgot to say in my rant that this is getting old quick. it's not
news after the 1st time you tell us. the second time its an annoying reminder,
the third time its just annoying.

hello, and welcome to last week:

http://eztv.it/index.php?main=tvnews&show_news=2559

there were two news posts: one announcing the cancellation of atlantis, and
another about universe being given the green light. what new information does
your post bring? none, as far as i can tell 😛

"appearances by former cast members from sg-1 and atlantis are very possible"

yet they cant actually get back to earth? what?!

edit: i think they will do the same as with atlantis. one season of being cut
off, then from there on will have direct conection with earth.

or they'll be able to communicate back to earth but won't be able to override
the "pre-programmed mission" of the ship in order to return physically to earth.
especially if the dialing of space gates is done by the ship computer so they
don't know the addresses being dialed each time they use a gate so they can't
back track either.

i think this will probably be the end of the stargate franchise, replacing the
entire cast with fresh faces like they did introducing stargate atlantis, were
we were just not starting to connect with the characters and understanding their
back stories, i really feel that scifi just shot themselves in the foot, and
come on now, a pre programmed ancient ship flying all over the galaxies. give
me a friggen break. stick to what works, and get rid of the new kids, people
watch this show cause they can relate to characters and their crisis. throw in
a bunch of teeny boppers and now were stuck watching an episode of dawson's
creek battling it out on a star cruiser. if i wanted to watch that kind of
mickey mouse crap i would be watching cw instead of scifi. i say we all go to
the store buy a bunch of egg's and egg the crap out of the exec's that decided
not to pick up a new season of stargate atlantis. i mean come on first you take
away sg1 then sga then give us sg fans this crappy bullspit about a ship stuck
on a predetermined mission. gimmie a break do you guys even read the crap your
approving. bah sorry had to vent this is ridiculous.

okay, is it really like no one saw this coming? the producers screwed
tori higginson over (which pissed a lot of fans off). they couldn't keep
amanda tapping from jumping ship (no pun intended). then they bring on robert
picardo to a show that was already starting to feel a little bit like a trek
series? the only thing that could have saved this show would have been to
bring christopher judge or michael shanks on as permanent characters, and i
don't know if either of them would have done it. (hence the reason amanda
tapping was there instead).
don't get me wrong, i love the sg shows and have watched every episode
religiously. the reason i'm not surprised however is because sci-fi is a
poorly managed cable network. instead of trying to bring in new writers for
shows, or try new ideas, or (god forbid) listen to some of the fans ideas or
their fiction, they just give up on shows when the ratings start to turn.
perhaps they would be wise to take all of the countless dollars they have
mindlessly stuck in 100 vomit inducing grade c horror flicks (not science
fiction btw) and put it all into one or two well produced original shows and
use the rest to pick up some other good sci-fi shows (4400?) or movies (2001,
riddick movies, etc.). who knows, maybe they would end up with a fan-base
that had a little more confidence in their product. after all, its hard to
get excited about a show or be willing to invest time in it when you the
network is just going to cancel it as soon as ratings waiver.
