another case of somebody not telling enough of the symptoms, and still expecting
the cure...
you must explain your problems in detail to receive help..
when you start a torrent, you are actually downloading a small file with an
extension of " .torrent ".... usually your browser automatically handles this
file, sticking it into a temp folder and passing it along to your client... your
client does not download the actual .torrent file.
possibly try downloading the .torrent file manually (right-click & save as) to
your desktop or such.. and then seeing if your client can open it from there..
sorry about lack of details, the thing is that i have no idea how to explain it
everything has been working fine up to yesterday, i usually press the "1" and
it starts up utorrent and downloads the file!
now since yesterday a "pling" sounds and it says something like what i wrote
above!
well i tried it the way you describe and it seems to work just fine:-)
as you understand i'm not very good with computers and i'm very grateful that
you are! (at least way better than me)
should i continue downloading this way, or is there something i can do and get
back to the old way (not very important, i am lazy and old habits ... ....)
again thanks for the replay, and next time i have a problem i'l try to
describe it better (not that you need it) lol...
you're best off sticking with actually downloading the torrent file really
there's nothing you can do on your side of things, the bt-chat links just have a tendency to mess up from
time to time, leaving it so you get a file not found message, either in your torrent app or in actual web
browsers
if you really don't want to have to open the torrent seperately or are stuck in your old ways as it were you
could just do as you always did to begin with, and then if it doesn't work download the actual torrent file
with right click
it sounds like it could be any of a few different problems..
first... you said you have tried other torrent clients, so it may be that you no
longer have a "default" program for opening that type of file.. or it is just no
longer utorrent, as you want...
start up utorrent > options > preferences > general > look for windows
integration at the bottom > press the "associate with .torrent files" button if
you can.. and also make sure the box is checked for "check association on
startup"...
also it could be a problem with your browser settings.. when you click the link,
does it ask you to 'save the file or open it from it's current location?' or
something similar?... and which browser are you using anyway?.. if you are still
using internet explorer, this may be a good reason to upgrade to firefox now...
it's a sign!.. heh.

and you can always take a screenshot of your problem or error message to show to
us.. hit the 'print screen' key to copy a screenshot of whatever is on your
monitor, then paste it into a blank .bmp using ms paint or photoshop or
whatever... then upload it on a free image host such as:
