as you all have helped me before i'll ask in here first.

i want to rar a file up to send by email to divx.com.
i'm having problems with the new codec v6.4.
but i have never sent a large file over the internet before.
they want to take a look at a file i have converted.
but as far as i remember i have to rar it up in small bits to send it.
i have tryed to rar it up and it's aking for "split to volume size" ?
i picked "auto" but it's still as big nealy, still in 1 file.

so thank you for any help you give me.

bye for now (si) (uk) ;-)

i have looked at the info you gave me a link to.

but i have got a rar program (winrar) i just need a size that i can split it
into and send over the internet.
or will it send it over full sized (117,110 kb).
i thought you had to break it up into smaller sizes.
i tryed 140k but i had loads of files that i would have to send i got to
thinking it was too small.
i have looked all over the internet but i can't find anywhere a size that is
big enough that i don't have loads of little files, but small enough that i
can still send it.

thanks (si) (uk) :-)

well the size depends on what you're e-mail allows, for example, if you are
using hotmail, i believe the biggest an e-mail could be is 10mb, so make each
part just under that.

if your e-mail client allows for bigger e-mail attachments then make them
bigger, apart from the hassel, it doesn't matter how many parts you use to
send it, although most people would think as few as possible would be better
over e-mail.

unless they have specifically asked for a huge file i really wouldn't suggest
trying to send anything over 5mb via email, its simply not designed for it.
your isps outgoing server may not allow it, their incoming mail server may not
allow it. of course you could send them 20 emails each with attachments but its
a lot of hassle for both you and them (which they might not appreciate).

if your problem can be seen on a shorter video clip i'd recommend just sending a
30 second or so example.

or you could just upload the file to a site like megaupload and send them the link.

as pqed said... use a file hosting site:
rapidshare.com
megaupload.com
those are the two i suggest, but there are others...

if it's still too large for the maximum at those, then rar it in half or in
quarters before uploading...
and then just mail them the addy(s) that the filehost gives you..
