firefly wasn't a "failure" it was a great success but was pulled for political
reasons...shady ones at that...

i think you need to start taking your meds again, firefly was cancelled
because only a handful of fanboys could actually be bothered to watch it. as
for his sense of humour, you must have thought'hostel' and 'saw' were comedies
right?

whedon is a genius when it comes to this stuff! fox screwed up by showing the
episodes in the entirely wrong order, they started with episodes two and three
and didn't show the first episode (you know, the one where characters are
introduced) until about 5 episodes in. people were thrown in not knowing what
was going on! they screwed it up.

as for humour? he's brilliant at it, so shoost!

no point in trying 98766654321...if they don't understand by now they never will.

and the thought of another buffy movie worries me. while i adore the idea (and
anything else the master does), i'm concerned that, like serenity, it will only
be for fans--especially if it focuses on anything in the comics.

(say what you will about the bdm; yes, it could stand alone, but you only
really, truly appreciated it if you were already a browncoat.)

and really, a remake of the original is pointless. no sense beating a dead horse.

(plus, i much rather see an angel & spike movie. grrrargh.)

i hope there wont be a movie, i watched the show buffy but not for smg, her i
can be without. alison hannigan is a much better actress and have done big
screen movies before.

i am for that opinion that movies done after a series often will go bad, same
the other way around. (most of the times, if you don't count buffy the movie)

i liked the movie but you have to have in mind that that movie is older than our
big screen movies we see now so i don't think it's fair either to compare buffy
the movie with movies now since it's older.

if i could chose a series return it would be buffy! (but without sarah, sorry
don't like her at all, i watched the series for "spike, willow, xander, )

everyone has a mental block on the original buffy movie i guess?
:d

exactly. tv and movies are in different worlds. chances are there will be
serious rights issues in doing a second movie. i guarantee you joss wheedon
doesn't have full control of the buffy property.

it's also worth remembering that while buffy has a fanatically strong cult
following and the show did well in some countries, it was a low-budget marginal
show on networks few people watched in the us. were the show on mainstream
networks it would have been canceled faster than firefly. large numbers of
people have never seen the show, nor even heard of it. this is not like star
trek, that was on a big network its original run.

also, while the episodes wheedon himself wrote were superb tv writing, and some
of the other writers wrote were also up there, there were also some episodes
that were horrifically badly written and performed. beer bad, for example, is
one of the true low points of television. the writer of that show should never
ever work again. there were others.

you also have an ensemble cast who -- for the most part -- are working on other
things and unavailable. scheduling would be a challenge, and they'll all be too
old to be convincing by the time the movie gets into principal photography.
you'd have to re-cast in most cases.

furthermore, is the issue of star power. again tv doesn't count here, this is
about movie success. smg has some star power, alyson hannigan a little, seth
green too. but none is a guaranteed box office draw -- bearing in mind, and
using serenity as an example, other than diehard fans in many countries, a lot
of people have never seen buffy, and smg is a faded star (of limited talent too).

i think you can safely guarantee that you are unlikely to see another buffy
movie in your lifetime -- and certainly not one with the original cast intact.
